    Tigé Snap-in Carpet

OK... heres the deal. I spent a lot of time in an RZ2 yesterday, and decided that I'm going to get an '08, come boat show this coming winter (new truck comes first!).

That said, there's something that I'd like to see changed across the board. Its relatively simple, and would also reduce construction costs...

    Snap-in carpet throughout the boat.

Its done in the front walkway- why not in the rest of the boat? This includes in the storage compartment floors, and in the main area in the middle of the boat.

From an owner's perspective, all you'd need to do is pop out the carpet and either spray it down at the car wash, or even put it through a washing machine. It'd also be beneficial when you want to replace your carpet. Cleaning out the rest of the boat would be easier as well!

From a manufacturer's perspective it should cost less to just texture the floor with non-skid, and drill some holes for pre-fab carpet to drop in. This would eliminate the need for adhesives and the "baseboard" thats screwed into the edge of the floor perimeter.

Boat owners could also change the look of their boat by dropping in different pre-cut carpet patterns.

I think that is a terrific idea.

Why haven't they done it sooner? I think there is some reason. It would cost some extra to seal up the carpet edges so they do not fray.

Isn't the covering over the gas tank currently metal? I think that would have to change in order to have pull out carpet.
    Be excellent to one another.

You mean like they already do with the walkway carpet?

After coming out of a boat w/snap-out, I kinda like having glued in carpet.
1st, I dont think the carpet itself takes any longer to dry than snap-out. 2nd The backing of the snap-out would get wet and not dry til the carpet was taken out and hung up to dry, and if you didn't do this, it would mildew and stink.
I'd go either way on carpet, but would not be a deal breaker.

I dont think Tige will see any measureable loss/gain in sales which ever way they go.

My snap in bow carpet stinks and my glued in carpet does not. I have no clue why that is, and I've scrubbed and scrubbed the snap in and let it sit in the sun for a week.

I can guarantee there would be more saltwater use sales if Tige did snap-out carpet. Our Tige gets more looks than almost any other boat out at the islands because you just don't see them very often and there aren't many inboards sold and used in the salwater. I haven't seen any more maintenance on our Tige than I did our sterndrive SeaRay, which was bought new in 2004, except in the carpet/floor department. Almost every person that looks at our boat cringes when they notice the glued carpet. I freshwater rinse the carpet after every weekend out and if I could remove the carpet to wash and let drip dry, or for that matter leave it out, that would cut an hour off of my cleaning time. After I wash my carpet right now I then vacuum it to get out as much water as possible and also to get the sand out of my boat. If it had a full liner then I could remove the carpet and wash the sand into the bilge and out the drain plug. As it is I want to put in a floor drain to make rinsing down the carpet easier. MC and Nautiques both have full liners and snap-out carpet on many of their models and that is a HUGE attraction. There are several of both of these boats out there with me and I know of atleast two of them looking to convert to a Tige for the drier ride and more room, but there is that carpet issue

My snap out bow carpet stinks if I do not take it out, I have no problem vacuuming my glued in carpet. I seem to always have dirt, small leaves or whatever else can find there way under the bow carpet. When I remove it I don't really like having to clean and wax the floor so it looks nice. I guess I prefer glued in carpet.

Well I would think it would be pretty expensive seeing as a snap in bow rug is $300.

Having said that I would love the snap in carpet. We used to borrow my uncles Baja for the a weekend at the LofO, and we would snap out the carpet and run the hose inside the boat and it all ran into the bilge. It made it alost easier to clean.

I am on my second Tige and just removed the front carpet for the first time. Very easy to clean and hang dry. I am for it - removable carpet throughout.

if the floor was textured with an anti-skid surface, like the walkway on the RZ2, and the ve boats, you wouldnt have to worry about waxing it.

zad... what do you think it would cost to replace the glued in carpet in the back?

I did notice that is was way slick without the carpet. Something is needed and it sounds like they cured it on the newer boats.

I have no idea. We had to replace the bow rug because... it doesn't float, so thats how I know thats what that piece costs.

Just Rhino line the interior and save the hassle

I've never removed my bow carpet nor do I plan too, so it's a non issue for me, but I guess it would be nice to have the option to do so if I ever wanted too....
