I'm with Ruune on this one, snap-in carpet would be ideal for me. A friend of mine had a Centurion with snap-in carpet and it was pretty nice. Tige could always offer it as an option.

tall, my gas tank cover is wood and the screws that held it on have rusted out. I'd rather have a sturdier reinforced access panel there instead like I do on my fishing boat.

Didn't someone from Tige come on here and explain that due to how they build the top deck that Snap-out carpet wasn't practical? Maybe I'm dreaming that up.

I'd be in favor of it if it wasn't a huge upcharge.

I would like to buy snap in to go over my glued carpet. Pull it out and let the glued dry.

Maybe, but I find that hard to believe if other manufacturers can build a similar boat with snap-in carpet.

I agree- the Xstar has snap-in carpet. Underneath is textured for traction, in case you want to run it without the carpet in.

Speaking of Xstar- one of their features that I'm impressed with is a battery charger. you simply plug an extension cord into a socket under one of the seats and thats it. No messing with cables, etc. Just plug and forget. BRILLIANT!

You can add one of these to your boat for less than $200.

              Check out these options:

              2 Bank Charger - $169
              3 Bank Charger - $179

I have the 2 bank charger on my Tige and a different 3 bank charger on my fishing boat. As you said, just plug it in when you get home. Works like a champ!

I have had one of these installed on my '04 since day one. Come in from a trip, plug it in and forget it. All winter plugged in ready to go in the spring. I also run one on my truck as it sits a lot of the time. I have not had a battery problem since I have been using this product. Highly recomend!

This could be possible because Tigé uses the Penske material for their cabin flooring and not fiberglass and gelcoat.

So to do snap-out carpet there would have to be alot more to do? Right?

Our Tige gets more looks than almost any other boat out at the islands because you just don't see them very often and there aren't many inboards sold and used in the salwater. I haven't seen any more maintenance on our Tige than I did our sterndrive SeaRay, which was bought new in 2004, except in the carpet/floor department. Almost every person that looks at our boat cringes when they notice the glued carpet. I freshwater rinse the carpet after every weekend out and if I could remove the carpet to wash and let drip dry, or for that matter leave it out, that would cut an hour off of my cleaning time. After I wash my carpet right now I then vacuum it to get out as much water as possible and also to get the sand out of my boat. If it had a full liner then I could remove the carpet and wash the sand into the bilge and out the drain plug. As it is I want to put in a floor drain to make rinsing down the carpet easier. MC and Nautiques both have full liners and snap-out carpet on many of their models and that is a HUGE attraction. There are several of both of these boats out there with me and I know of atleast two of them looking to convert to a Tige for the drier ride and more room, but there is that carpet issue
Have you ever considered putting in snap-in carpet over your glued carpet?

Rushin might be right, but I know that the big piece over the gas tank is made of metal. So that would have to be glassed over in order to make snap out a reality. Who knows what the rest is made of.

They could make that piece out of starboard or something composite. Some boats have ski lockers that are not fiberglass but are still white and look perfectly fine.

I don't see that solving my sand removal problem. I would then have two layers of carpet to dry, one in the boat and the removable one. Thanks for the idea though

very well might be. If I remember correctly it was the post that showed how malibu builds their top deck. People were saying something about how they didn't like how Tige did their seats, and they wanted them more like Malibus..yada yada, there was some discussion on how malibu uses 2 pieces for the seats, and tige's are one piece contruction.

I thought there was info on why Tige uses the Carpet strip around the seat bases in that post, and I thought there was info on the glue down carpet too.

I'm repeating all this from my poor memory because I searched and couldn't find the thread.
