Are the 2007 boats satellite radio ready?

I have the Clarion Head unit and want to activate the satellite radio. At 1st I was going to buy a portable unit and called Sirus about a few questions I had, the customer service guy said to check and see if the kit is already installed ( for 2007 a lot of manufactures apparently installed this) anyways worth a look before I buy the unit.

Has anyone activated there's or has more details of what you need to complete the kit?

any pro's and cons to this over the portable?

    Thanks

The headunit is ready, but I doubt they included the SIRCL3 and Galaxy Antenna that I/O's come with. That being said, the CMD4 or CMD5 head unit that you probably have are ready to go if you plug in that SIRCL3 module and run the included antenna somewhere.

Pros, memory presets that work with your remotes on your transom and cockpit (I assume you have those). Out of sight out of mind.

Cons, not portable. No game alerts, rewind, favorite songs, etc.

Yes, your Carion HU is Sirius "ready" (this means capable) but I think it is left to the dealer or the Customer to buy and install the reciever and antenna.

The reciever is a little smaller than a cigar box, if it is already installed, than all you need is the ID # and call Sirius, or online, and they will get you hooked up in just a couple of minutes.

If not, you will need to buy the reciever/antenna kit. Takes about 30 min to mount reciever and run data cable and antenna. I got mine off Ebay for less than retail. I will have to find the kit number, cant remember off hand, and post latter.

Evil beat me to it. That is the reciever that I got, but I went with the smaller antenna, as the Galaxy is like a 3.5" mushroom and mine is about 1"x1" and 1/2" high.

Any issues with reception? and where did you install the antenna ( can you post pics)

This will be the 1st time going with Sat, so I really do not know what to expect.

as always thank you for the help.

            They have a new one:

            SRA25 Antenna

Although, instead of paying $55, the best price I've seen for it, just use the tiny black one that comes with the SIRCL3. You'll need sticky tape as you won't find too many magnetic locations on a fiberglass and aluminum boat.

You'll be fine. Sirius is great to have on the boat as regular radio reception sucks in most coves and unless you got the CMD5 radio with MP3 capability, changing discs sucks too, they're always getting scratched in the glovebox. I'm still torn between getting a Stilleto and using my SIRCL3 that is in my boats glovebox right now.

Only near the power lines ( we have many as our lake is a damed river for the power co.) I think the Galaxy antenna is stronger, but it was just too big for me.

I'll get some pics later for ya. My antenna is mounted between the tower, windshield and seat back rest on the port side, and the cable is run into the port storage console under the seat back/storage door, if that makes any sence Pics will help i'm sure.

another problem is the sat is in the southern sky, so if you party near a ledge/cliff that is on the south end of the lake, you won't get reception. Just FYI>

So a combination of me being in FL and this being the southern exposure of our hang-out, we would be ok

Sounds good, I think I will get the adapter and be done with it. I am pretty creative at finding cool mounting spots that are out of the way but neat and tidy a the same time... I like the idea that the remotes will display the Sat info and the fact that if I leave my boat I wont have to worry about someone grabbing it...... ( It sucks to think that way, but it happens)

What does everyone use for the packages? yearly, monthly.. life time........

I heard that if yo buy a year up front you can freeze your account for the off season and then resume in spring. any truth to that?

Thanks again, excited to get this project going...

I piggy-backed on my son's account (that I pay for any way) for like $6 a month and paid a year. when his comes up for renewal, I going to do the life time deal.

                            "Snowbird" policy -
With reception up to 200 miles offshore, boat owners have discovered that SIRIUS makes a great cruising companion. Now, take advantage of SIRIUS' Snowbird policy! When you store your boat at the end of the season, call SIRIUS customer service and deactivate your service for the winter. Reactivate your subscription within 6 months, and forget the standard $15 reactivation charge.
