    boat shopping

I test drove, a 2006 24ve friday, definitely like it, its a new boat the dealer has had in stock for a while, there is also a 2005 24v for sale on consignment, the 2005 has a 380 hp motor, the 2006 has a 340 hp motor, which motor would be better suited for wakeboarding, or will either of them be good, the dealer tells me the 340 hp is better because the 380 hp makes its peak torque at 600 rpms higher than the 340. I am also new to tige boats, is there any problems I should be aware of in either of these models. The 2006 has the advantage of having a three year warranty.
    sin city.
    thanks for the help

performance wise, I think you will be happy with either the 05 w/380 and the 06 w/340. The hulls are very similar so the wakes will be very close, the weight is almost identical, and the 340 hp is more than enough to push the 24Ve with ballast.

Our 06 22Ve had some minor bugs, but I do not regret choosing a Tige, and will buy another.

Post some pics when you decide.

Dealer will probably want to move the 05 more than the 06. Use that to your advantage. What is the price difference?

I really like the Ve's for the activity center on the transom. But the 24v puts out a sweet wake for wakesurfing. Either boat, you can't go wrong.

I'm guessing you talked to Tom at Boats of Nevada? I think either engine you would be fine with. A big positive about the 6.0L (380hp) is the closed cooling. It could potentially be to your advantage with the mussels in Lake Mead. I would disagree with Spharis that the dealer would move more on the 05 vs. 06. The 05 is on consignment so he really has no urgency to move it versus an 06 24Ve sitting in the store.

I'm guessing these are what you're looking at?

I agree with spharis - move the older boat and if on consignment, get as much as you can for it since you don't own it. We bought an 05 24V with the same engine in December with 32 hrs. for about alot less then their asking price. The only real difference is your tower and "premium" sound. If you are looking to save some bucks, offer $40,000 on the 05 and deal from there. Remember, it's not their boat, that is if it's on consignment. Good luck and let us know which boat you buy. You will buy a Tige...

Are they both Marine Power Engines?
I have a friend that had a different brand, (Bigger Name) and had nothing but problems. They want him to pay for everything. Where MP is very good about warranties.
Tige, it's a way of life!

6 months and still no sale......whew that is brutal should sell for 44-46k....50k was a bit high as you can get a 07 R2Z for 60k or an 07 22Ve for 55k. Nice looking boat, hope it sells!!

That's true, but if it is close to the same price I'd personally get the Ve. I prefer my Ve over my last V.

If he had it at that price with shipping to me he probably would have sold it but with shipping it was going to be around $52K.

The folks at my dealer really recommend the Marine Power 340 hp. It performs better than all the other engine options and they've had the fewest issues with it.

Review the "three" year warranty before you buy. I was going to pay to transfer the warranty since my 05 had such low hours (32hrs.) and found out that after the first year (I think) only internal engine parts are covered. I decided to pass on the "three" year warranty.

I love red boats, so you need to get that. JK.

Personally, I think if you are talking 54K on the 05, you are paying too much. I have an 05 with the 340HP and feel it performs very nicely for wakeboarding, even with 1500 extra pounds in it. So I think the 06 is the better deal. I would be surprised if they cannot work on the 05 price.

PM me about my 05 if you cannot get a better price than that. I honestly do not think I am going to sell until late summer or next spring, but I have open ears. My stereo will rock the socks off of that one, and I have a Rival ballast system installed.
                          Be excellent to one another.

I'd go '06 ve. I have a 22v and admit the ve transom appeals alot to me. I like the little compartments and the walkthrough on the sunpad. The v will have more room to get around and work on the motor, but that should only be of concern if you plan to work on it yourself. The cockpit has more room in the ve also which is why the motor compartment is tighter. The 340hp should be more than adequate for the needs. The 380hp has also had a fuel percolation problem that there is a fix for. If you decide on the '05 v and want to talk to someone about the fix for the 6.0 liter engines, call my dealer Dom at 888-517-3178. He has helped multiple members on this forum trouble shooting their 6.0 liter engines and he himself runs one in competition for the local ski team. Both are great boats. Let us know which one you get

thanks for the input guys, I got to test drive the 05 with the six litre, friday, its got an engine problem, it took for ever to get up to 4,000 rpm's, it definitely wasn't running right, I had to personally work on the cruise control, the little rope that is suppose to wrap around the servo motor and tighten up the cruise control cable when the ignition is on wasn't doing so, in turn when the throttle was engaged, the throttle cable wouldn't pull the throttle body butter flies open because the cable was to loose, anyway got this problem mostly fixed but the motor still wasn't performing like it should, the dealer will be working on it and we will try another test drive this week, the 07 fly by wire throttle is looking better by the minute, this perfect pass as it works now looks kind of chincy to me, to many ropes and cables, just my opinion of course.
