SpringTime Get Ready Thread...New Boat owner's look here

It's beginning to look a lot like spring time around the country. I am sure there are lots of new Boat owners/Lurkers out there after the release of the RZ2 and almost release of RZ4.

Let's Compile a list of those little tips that can help them out.

And if you've visited and not posted, or are a new owner, stop by to say HI.

    I'll get things started.

    1) Don't forget to put the drain plug back in..

Un hook the rear tie downs and and front ratchet. Sometimes you get so excited you forget.

Keep a spare key on board incase a yound child throws yours overboard or hides it.

Stock the coolers full or beer

Be sure to have the proper paperwork and # of life jackets in case you do get pulled over.

Remember that orange soda will stain white seats.

If you pull into a cove and there are people wakeboarding, go tube or jetski somewhere else.

If you have an inboard, turn your blower on before starting up...especially after sitting for a while or after filling up. You don't want to blow up.

DON'T POWERTURN!!!! I see so many people do this, even people who are great at wakeboarding.... I just don't get it.

If your boarder falls. Stop the boat, let the wake pass you and turn slowly and pick him up. This simple (and totally obvious IMO) task will keep the lake smooth until at least 9am

And seriously people, don't tube near the only smooth water on the lake. Go to the main channel or the big recreation area where all the other tubers are at. Besides, who wants to tube in smooth water?

Keep jumper cables in your boat....

Keep a Pocket knife and goggles just in case you run over your anchor line....

Wipe the boat down as soon as you pull it out of the water. A good tip is to buy an insect sprayer from Home Depot and fill it 1/4 Distilled Vinegar and the rest with fresh water to make cleaning 10x faster. Also, use separate towels to clean your boat instead of your good beach towels

If you bought a new boat your going to want to get INSURANCE

                        Recharge your battery

                        Change oil and/or impeller

                        Name your boat

and the thing where you smack a wine bottle on the hull (how do you spell it?, crissianing you boat), don't do that remember "new gel coat" and you don't want to step on it or run over it too.

A good wax as you dry spray and some microfiber cloths is another good way to go. It will keep your boat looking nice.

                              Very......

Take time in open water to learn how to drive your boat, then when you get in a pressure situation, things won't be so hectic.
