Please dont use petroleum based lubes like vaseline, it can make rubber swell and break down. Silicone based lubes are the least harmfull to rubber.

Almost every Impeller I've ever bought came w/ a package of Glycerine. Use the supplied lube. If you were in a pinch, you could always use some KY

how did you get the fake a lake to work? I've never been successful using that stupid thing! please help me. I burned out impeller after impeller insisting on trying to get the thing to work. I built a flush kit, but now I have a new boat and don't think I'll get to the flush kit soon, because that was a real pain in the *** itself.

Did you count the pieces to make sure you have all of it? If not might want to check PS cooler (if you have one,) because there could left of debris in it. Might be worth a back flush.

I've just used liquid soap to lubricate the impeller.

Yes, you got it right. However, I am thinking that it was not enough water pressure. But, this time I changed it out myself.

The key thing that I do is have somebody watching my exhaust for me and if I don't get water in a few seconds, I turn it off. The other key thing is to make sure the fake lake is centered and that you have good water pressure--my downfall this time as I had one of my younger kids turn on the water.

I counted the large pieces but I did not check for all the small pieces. I have never back flushed a system before, how do you do it? I will also check the cooler, is that just a matter of pulling the hoses off and checking or should you flush that out as well?

Moki, I a tool that you can use that uses air pressure with water to back flush a system. I can have the demo tool sent to you if you need it. Let me know. It is also great for cleaning your cooling systems. You can use a chemical with it if you wish to get a better flush. HEY MAYBE THAT IS OUR MUSSEL CLEANING TOOL I WILL HAVE TO LOOK IN TO IT.
