well we're trying to figure out what we want to do for a stereo in the new boat. we decided not to do it from tige and just want to know what some of you have done. im most concerned about tower speakers becouse thats whats going to project to me when im riding. and its for an e-tower. so just let me know who makes it, if it sounds good and if you whant to let me know what you paid, and pics would be cool to so we can get an idea. we have pioneer's with custom built cans on our 03, but they wash out unless there is no wind, and even then there not the best

If you are serious about sound to the rider, then NVS or Wetsounds are needed. Then you have to think about amps as well. I have found a wealth of good information on Wakewold.com - under boats and accessories subject.
Evilone, are you out there? He has 6 (I think) 6X9 pioneers on his tower and I would like to hear what he thinks about it when riding. If he come to the tige reunion in October I will be able to get a head to head comparison, but I hope you get yours done by then.
One consideration is that the HU install is labor intensive. Let the guys at the factory put in the HU and drill the holes for speakers and run wire, then you can jazz it up with amps and tower speakers yourself. Depending on how much they charge you, it might be worth it to just let them get the basic in for you. That is what I did, but sometimes my time is worth more than my money.Be excellent to one another.

If you like to stand up on the back of the boat and have your tunes cranked up, you will not be able to use the NVS or Wetsounds w/o line drivers to turn them down independantly. They will rip your head off and are a bit harsh. I have 6 fusions up on my tower and no rider I've ever had, has had problems w/ sound getting back to them. They are loud and clear! The NVS are about the loudest out there, the Wetsounds are a bit softer but still VERY LOUD. I was going to switch to the Wetsounds but they were still a bit to harsh for me standing at the back of the boat.
Any of the pro-audio stuff is going to be louder than any kind of Car Audio speakers. I'll sacrifice a bit of volume for something that's a bit more pleasing to the ear though. Which IMHO, the Fusions do nice.Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

I will have to let you know about the 6 6x9 as its still a wee bit chilly for me to get behind the boat. Also, a few of the Pioneers were beginning to get a bit "scratchy" (re: blown) so I went and got some new 6x9s. Most of you have never heard of them but I went with some Total Mobile Audio 6x9s. They are a 3 way instead of 5 way, but it is a silk dome vs. film cone tweeter. I'll let you know in a few weeks how they sound. Otherwise, I'll probably sell for a few hundred and pick up two 485s.

I have the Wetsounds 3 some on my E tower. I just put the swivel mounts on to straighten up the Pro 80's. You can check out my whole set up here

I must say the Wetsounds are the sickest speaker I have ever listened to.Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
