    No More Teak?

I heard today that teak is no longer an option on Tige boats. My order was placed earlier this week. I will now have to have fiberglass. Has anyone else heard this?

That is a shame. I originally thought I would want fiberglass but the durability of teak has grown on me.

I like the teak as well. I'm quite bummed that I will have to have fiberglass. I like the low maitenance of the fiberglass, but I think the teak brings a warm feel to the boat. Like you, I like the durability too.

I personally love teak. Esp. when I bumped the dock with the platform into a dock last summer . This seriously makes me wonder what Tigé is doing. I'm glad I bought the last year of the v series, as much as I like the RZ2 I don't know what my next brand will be.

The past 2 yrs they have moved away from the things I liked most about the brand... affordability, massive storage, great surf wake, and teak.

That makes me sad. Teak looks much better to me than fiberglass. My opinion is that Teak looks a lot more classy and old school. I really don't mind the maintenance. That's just me though. I may have to take off my platform in I get a new Tigé.

There is previous thread about another owner (sparky216) had his dealer swap out his fiberglas platform for a teak one on his 2007 24Ve. Check it out, it looks great!

I like teak too. The order placed on Tuesday had teak platform checked.

The difference between teak and fiberglass is like leather and naugahyde.

Teak like real leather requires more work but creates a richer look and feel.

They are working with a new supplier and trying to get some samples from them.

Do you happen to know an ETA? My boat shouldn't be finished for another 3 week minimum.

Also, how long have you known about this? I see that sparky's post is dated back in January. Did you know this prior to then?

JeffT They new about this for some time. If my memory serves me correct the supplier of platforms closed doors about October or Novemeber of last year. Was tige single sourced on this item?
