    Lake Powel question

My family and I are thinking of going to lake Powel for the first time this summer.
I know that there have been a few threads about which ramps to use and which coves are good to check out, but I not sure how to look them up.

So I was hoping that I could get some advice on where to say and which marina is best (Bull Frog or the other one)
Also any advice on which coves to check out would be greatly appreciated. ( we plan on staying at least 4 days)
    Thanks
    David

Here are a few of the previous threads. I hope that helps. We launch out of Antelope Point.

whitlock87, we always went out of Bullfrog and also took a houseboat. Not as crowded. The marina is nice and so are the people. If you are in a houseboat there are a number of places/coves to stay on your way down to Dangling rope marina. Ski the Escalante and the San Juan Rivers. Go see Rainbow bridge. You will need to refuel at Dangling Rope.

Coming from Calif. I would not drive to Bullfrog and then boat down to Dangling Rope. For the past few years Antelope saves some time over Wahweap. The most significant question is, are you camping or going back to a motel every night? Go to different canyons every day and see as much as you can, without spending all your time traveling. See Rainbow Bridge and Cathedral Canyon is the #1 must see. Along the way, stop whenever you find nice water and break out the wakeboards. Keep one eye on the sky and be aware of changes in weather. Get an early start each day and you'll have much nicer water (easier going) in the main channel. And don't get too sunburned the first day or two. And enjoy!

Second that about must see on Rainbow bridge and cathedral canyon.

Don't drive from California to Bullfrog, what a waste of time. I have seen both and personally like Wahweap better.

I've gone twice a year for the last 15 years. Wahweap is the way to go, they have a huge deep ramp. Bullfrog has bigger canyon walls but few places to park a house boat. I've had to launch off the dirt many times because the bullfrog ramp isn't long enough.
We head out from Wahweap or Antelope to about mile marker 39 which is the big canyon just before dangling rope.(I think it's called dungeon canyon, it's on the south side of the lake) This is best spot because it's 2mi from gas pumps and the convenience store. However, your still right in the middle of the lake. Otherwise, you have to take your boat through rough canyon water to get gas at either end of the lake. If you need medical help dangling rope has EMT's and it's quick to get a flight for life helicopter.(long story) Trust me on this, the water is always glass all day in the canyons.

IMHO Houseboating on Lake Powell is the best way to go. But if you haven't ever done it before, it can be tricky. Therefore, I will offer to you my services to be your guide. I will be the pilot on your houseboat, show you all of the best places to see and camp. I will test the pull on your Tige at Powells altitude, as well as do the dishes. All at no cost to you. What a deal.

There is a public launch ramp and a private launch ramp and marina at Antelope Point. The private marina has boat slips. I think they are $ 15 to $20 a night.

Here is the link to Antelope Point Marina.

click on the services tab and it has information about the slip rentals.
