    Gas prices

here we go again. Right around $3 a gallon for gasoline. Last time we were there the price of a bbl was around $70. Now we are at $3 when the price per bbl is around $60... Wonder what the profits will look like now?

Trust me I am in the process of looking to dump the F-250 V10 and pick up a tow car to keep at the River and a around town car for here. My wife gets free gas with here company car per say ($140 a month to have the car, insurance, gas, etc) So it looks like my plan will to be to pick up an older F-150 to keep at the river from May- Aug for towing the boat and use my wifes car to travel to and from the river. Looks like the plan might save me about $2000 a year in gas cost. I might break even to off set the car price this year but after that I should start saving money. I don't see gas getting any cheaper. Why the hell did we invade Iraq if we aren't taking the oil???

I agree! At least the gas pricies in Havasu are about 30 to 40 cents a gallon less. Still does not ease the pain of filling the Tige and the truck at the same time

I did that last year. I left the Chevy Crew Cab in Havasu and bought a 1995chrysler cirrus for $1000 that only had 60,000 miles on it. It gets about 20-21 in city driving for work and 28 mpg on the highway driving to havasu. My combined insurance actually went down as I have on 4 cars on my policy in CA and the other insured in AZ. I was averaging over 25000 miler per year on the truck. Last year I put 2000 miles on the truck. The trips to havasu are split between the 4 CA cars depending who is the driver. If the wife or kids drive we take their cars. I drive very little as no one wants to be in the Cirrus!!

Think about me last year. F-250 V-10 Lifted to and from the river 500 miles about 11 trips total, filling my JET boat 454 Mag going through almost 60 gallons a weekend at about $4.00 a gallon! I think each weekend trip was costing me $300-$400 in gas alone. The Tige should offset my boat gas cost, but the cost of the boat will not make the trade worth it in a gas sence but in I got a new boat sense . The car think looks like it will pay for itself and help payoff the last bit of the RZ2 in the coming year! It will just be weird driving around in a little car so low to the ground ;(

I know. Had to bring the truck home a few weeks ago for some warranty work. Love driving in the truck don't miss filling it up though. In July of 05 I spent $1500 in gas between the boat and the truck.

The good news is, if you are in the market for a truck, as I am, the wholesale prices will drop as sales slow down on the guzzlers.

If you are thinking of getting out of a truck, keep in mind that the trade-in value will drop because dealers will not really want these things sitting on thier lots to long. They will hit you low to give themselves room to move it w/out taking a loss.

If you can afford it, park the truck and pick up a cheap econ car. But do it quick, the BlackBook value will skyrocket on the little cars as gas goes up.
