    Steering Cable

Hey folks, I need some help locating the proper steering cable. The dealer where I bought my boat no longer handles Tige.

Anyway, it's a '03 23V Limited. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is commonly "refered" to as a 2300 V because of the model change. Anyway, do any of you geraheads no the cable I need to be looking for and possibly a link to one online?

    Thanks a BUNCH!

This place has them. In another thread it says the length is on a little white tag near the end of the cable.

Well, that's one way, plus you could measure it then. I think the little tag is supposed to be able to be read while it is in the boat. I know the cables are more difficult to replace in the v's. Here is the link to the other thread.

Oh yeah, pull through a rope to get the cable put back in when you pull out the old cable...should make things a little easier on installation.

We are currently testing the reasons that so many brands of boats are having steering cable problems . In our testing we have found that it appears to not to be water intrussion but that the flow of water across the rudder is gennerating electricity passing through the cable and seizing it to the housing . We are know adding ground cables to the housing and rudder arm to test the affect and will let you know the results as we get them. If you have a volt meter take the ground lead and hook it to a ground under your dash , next while the boat is in the water hook the positive lead to the steering cable housing , our boats were showing .06 volts to start when the boat was under way the voltage would increase up to 1.0 volts , anything above .2 volts is enough to eat the cable up. The type of water you are in will effect the ammout of voltage. If at all possible please post your readings for our data .
