    Cool Google Map View

    http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&...26994&t=k&om=1

This is a Google Maps View of an area around my house. If you check out the Lake (Table Rock) you can see long V shaped things in the water, those are the wakes from boats!

I can't help but believe that somewhere in this is my boat. Too bad the image isn't clear enough at the extreme magnification.

Anyway, thought it was cool to see the wake trails on the boats.

I don't know what part of the map you are looking at, but you can get a birds eye view over at microsoft's maps.....much better....this is a shot of the water that has the lines in it right in the center of the map you posted.

MS really spanked google with the bird's eye view deal. MS is adding indexes of locaitons all the time. My house, you can see the toys in my yard!

Same area from google.....BTW you have to install an activex plugin I think for these maps.

You know what, that link wasn't even what I was looking at...that's strange. I copied it right out of the location bar. That was for some place in Kissimme Fl.

Here's what I was looking at

If you move the map, the address bar will not be accurate. You can click the "link to this location" to get the proper link.

Spharis....I've actually used the Terraserver stuff for a long time, but google's images are much more current (at least in my area)

Here's an example. Both are my Subdivision. Terraserver (where MS gets their images) hasn't shot our area since 1997. Google is pretty current, I'd say last summer...Judging from the houses that are built in the pic, vs what is build now.

I wish Terraserver would re-shoot my area, b/c I like that you can get topos off of their site.

Just for fun, here are the two:

Yeah...ms uses old data for sure, but the Bird's Eye View, if available for the area, is very new, and is taken from 4 angles.....it is sick.

Check this one out......right by work....very new. There's a fence and an s-92 that aren't in this pick that are from about 1 year ago. You should see if your area has bird's eye view yet. Rotating around the zoom is very cool.

so apperantly their maps are 10+ years old

Spharis, where is the birds eye option? I'm not seeing it. Maybe it's not available here.

The little box on the left of the map.....if you can click the icon that looks like skyscrapers, below the one that looks like a map, then it is available.

Check out 3d view as well....only metro areas, but it is sweet.
