Swim Platform

I'm considering a new '06 22V and was wondering about the difference in the teak swim platform and the fiberglass one. They call the teak one "oversize", does that mean it's actually bigger than the fiberglass one? This boat has the teak one but I like the looks of the fiberglass so just wondering if there's any other differences...

Judging from the pictures I found on Tigé.com, the teak platform looks to be possibly slightly longer than the fiberglass.

I would say they are the same size or very close to it.

If you go to the Tigé site and "build your Tigé" and interchange them they look almost identical in size.

I think they say oversized because on older ski boats the swim platform was about 1/2 the size they are now.

Differences include higher durability of wood with the inconvenience of more maintenance.

Wood does require more regular care, but, judging from the scratches on my transom, it would be easier to restore to good condition than fiberglass.

Amen! mine is only about 20" wide or so. And hey, what's this older crap anyway! Aged is a much better word

I prefer experienced...

Mine looked like complete *** when I bought it.....I hit it with a sander, then finer, then finer, until it was smooth......now except for a few planks w/ minor warping, it looks good......try that with 10 year old fiberglass.

One other nice thing is the ability to rebuild it as required.....like let's say you back into a pole.....you can rebuild the teak if a plank breaks, and it is removeable.....I don't know how the fiberglass ones attach?

Actually I was thinking about an old DD Nautique I rode around in during my youth! I think the Swim platform was about 10 inches wide...at least in my memory it is.

Teak is the way to go IMHO. The Maintenance is what you make of it. I know plenty of hard core skiers who only sand/oil their platforms once a year or so. Always brings them back to life.

Yeah, but, IMO a well-cared for teak platform, looks MUCH nicer.

It's not hard to maintain once you get'em looking good. I just rub in some teak oil like every three outings and it stays looking good. Mine was a freaking mess when i got the boat, took forever to sand off all the crap.

At the Vegas boat show, I noticed this. SO the fiberglass platform costs more? Seems counterintuitive to me. Someone please explain the difference between MSRP, MAP and Hyper price! Sounds like sales gobbldygook.
This was from an RZ2 at the Vegas boat show. I still can't tell for sure how much it is selling for. One of the bottom numbers is 78K.

The line is just 2nd from the bottom for 'custom colour fiberglass swim platform' for $400 extra. Pulease.

Exactly.....it's sales dribble to make you feel like you got a really good deal by talking them even lower than the Hyper price! Look how much you saved over MSRP.....WOW....what a deal!

It's just like auto sales......Maybe a dealer can answer this one. Do Tige dealers have to purchase inventory, or is it like a car dealer in that they don't own or have part of any vehicle on the lot that is a new model?

That sucker is loaded.....No Vision air seat though? (whooops, I just noticed "RZ STD" so it is included)

I would try to bargain lower than the Hyper price though, maybe Lightspeed price, or Blackhole price, or Battlestar Gallactica Wormhole price....that's what I would pay!
