    Balast fill level

Took a test drive last Saturday on a new 07 22ve like the one we just ordered - loved it. We ended up ordering the factory balast and had a question. Besides looking at the physical tank, how do you know when the tanks are full? Will the pump motor keep running even if it's full? Same with emptying? My concern is alway burning out pumps. Can anyone offer any technical info here?

Also, our dealer said that if you just fill the front tank it will smooth out the slalom wake. Is this true? We didn't get a chance to test this.

    Thanks,

    Wilson

it just fills water out the side, so your boat is peeing

When the ballast is full, water will spill out of the thru hull fittings, just like when your bilge pump is running. When emptying, just watch for the water to stop coming out of the thru hull fittings.

I almost always run a little ballast in the front, as it rides better. Esp in chop. With the nose down, it will also make the wake have more ramp, so I could see the logic with it having a better slalom wake. Not sure if it would increase the size to be undesirable, though.

I have bad luck with sending units so I just fill the ballast until it runs out the ovverflow/vent and then if I need to lower the amount I can do that on the fly.

I would be interested in knowing what guages you could install for this and how hard it would be. Are you doing yourself?

something like that, and a sending unit. I am sure there are dozens of gauges available.

I am with Spharis on this one. It is just one more thing to break. Boats take a beating in the elements and chop, just doesn't seem worth it. Not to mention, if it works as good as my fuel tank guage...

Another question: can you get a guage even for the soft sack up front?
                  Be excellent to one another.

i really don't think you could do a gauge for a soft sack. Hard one you could, but why? I mean just look over your side of your boat. Heck you can hear the water, when it stops making a nose, stop.
