I need to make a couple boxes myself. I'll add some pics to that thread as well.

Just put the driver in the new box and fired it up. Sounds great!!

Clean hits, and enough bass to wake my daughers up....oooops

I probably shouldn't be "testing" it at 11:30pm......or at least thats what my wife told me

anyway, I would argue that the middle of the mfg recommendations regarding volume is a good place to be!

HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT JL/AUDIO DRIVERS?? THE SPEAKER DESIGN ALLOWS YOU TO USE A SMALLER ENCLOSURE AND STILL HAVE GREAT SOUND.

Already got the driver, its a Kicker C10.

Just rebuilt the box out of MDF. Its a little smaller, but much tighter. Sounds really good, I think .... for a 10" driver that is.

A little epoxy or fiberglass and some carpet and I'm all set!

Whew, you must have bought those screws by the pound!

No need for fiberglass, just soak the mdf with resin, both sides, and caulk the seams on the inside, cover with carpet, and you are good to go.

              Looks really good!

what can I say, I love screwin

I think someone earlier in the thread said glue the heck out of it and screw the heck out of it, so I did.

Maybe I'll just paint it instead of carpet......is gonna be hidden, so it does'nt really matter what it looks like.

                    A Kicker 04KX450.2.

In bench testing (ok, I have it assembled in my computer room - and yes I'm so excited to get it installed I actually assembled my whole system in the house) its done well, but the amp will overpower the sub if you crank it up.

The amp is allegedly capable of 480W peak, and the sub is listed at 300W peak, so that would probably be the difference.

Maybe I'll eventually build another one with a better driver, but for now, I thinkl it'll do. sounds really clean. I'm pretty happy with it.

There you go! Maybe a little over board on the screws, but it can't hurt. Have you tried any polyfill in it yet?
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Jl, add a PAC LC1 to it so you adjust the amp gain down a bit to match the subs capabilities. That's what I'm doing with my Orion and the RF sub. The amp bridged is 200 rms and the sub is 150 rms so I'm adding the Orion gain control just to be safe. Hmmm maybe I'll check with SPharris on that just to make sure the 50 watt diff is all that big of a deal. SP?

The amp has a remote gain control. Just a little rj45 connector, so you can adjust the bass without having to go to where the amp is.

I have not tried polyfil yet, any suggestions on where to get some? Also, I have not sealed the seams yet, but I used a ton of glue, so its pretty tight.

Can someone explain "bridging" to me? what is it, whats the advantage/disadvantage of doing it?

Oh, and Nickypoo, you can NEVER have too many screws

I just pickup my polyfill yesterday at Walmart. Go to the fabric section and they have it on a wall, same stuff they fill pillows and quilts with.

IF i'm explaining this right (SP will correct me ) you can bridge to channels of a two or four channel amp to create one mono channel for the sub. In my case I'm bridging channels 3/4 for the sub on the Orion four channel amp.

                              AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

Dude, I can't go to Walmart, I work for Target Corp!! Bad Bad Bad.

oh, was that my outside typing??

I'll look to see what I can find.

And my amp is already a mono amp, only a + and a - out. So bridging is not an option there, right?

LOL! Right, no bridging for you! Go to any fabric store (take the wife, girlfriend, sister, etc so your not so obvious! ) and get your polyfill, they all have it.
