Maybe I should look for some mdf again. I found some, but the sheets were only 12" wide. Then again, maybe if I made it (inside) 12x12x18 I could make it work.

You can get it at Lowes in 4'x8' sheets and they will cut it for you.

If they will cut it, have them do it. MDF makes the worst dust mess of anything you can cut. Good luck on the box and keep us posted with pics.

Oh, I don't know about that. The dust from Purple Heart is poisonous. It will kill you if you inhale enough of it. Talk about a mess.

No, it's an actual wood. I've used it in a few pieces around the house. Interesting stuff. The longer you leave it exposed to oxegen, the more puple it becomes. You have to time you seal coat to the desired purpleness.

Okay dead is bad, but if someone wants to volunteer to come clean my shop just to see the mdf mess i love to see them, if not that is tomorrows project. I just finished some cabinets that had quite abit of mdf core plywood. I always have several pieces left, but don't think shipping would be cost affective. Good Luck

I think the worst part about the MDF dust is that it's sticky. It just latches on to whatever it comes in contact with. It does suck. Fortunately for me, I have 30,000 sq.ft. cabinet shop at my disposal. It tends to keep the saw dust out of my garage.

You just need one of them saws with a vacuum on it so none of that dust crap gets out.

I have a dust extraction system and pretty good shop, but you can not contain everything. Anyway the next time I'm in a mdf project I am going to get a box made for my sub. Hey we aught to start a thread about that.
