yeah you could but it's going to not sound as good, sound waves would get lost in the back. Least I think it would. You don't want it to big, as then it will not be as loud and the sound will get absorbed and what not.

i'm just thinkin for under my backseats where I only have about 6" of clearance. It wouldn't have to be 3 feet long, but long enough to get at least 1 cu ft

well if your running just one sub I would say no, but i'm not sure. I'm a bit fuzzy on all of that. If your running two subs then it would be fine I'd bet.

The other thing is this. Yes you can do it, and to our ears we would probably never know the difference, to someone that has a good sound ear it may matter. Know what I mean?

i think there would be too much room for the sound waves to move around and mess things up. I think that ideally you want a square small box so the waves don't move around and get distorted or counter act with one another. I know that if, for example you have a car, with two subs and you put them one on each side that they can actually cancell each other out if you put them directly opposite of each other. The sound waves will just go back and forth and be opposits.

it's like cadallics. Have you ever wondered why they are so quite? Go look under there exhaust. They have little speakers there that are exactly 180 degrees opposite of the sound wave that comes out of the exhaust. The two waves cancell each other and make it virturally silent

Like I said, I'm thinkin one box, just big enough to fit under the seat and have the minimum 1 cu ft. inside dimensions of 4x18x24 would be the minimum for 1 cu ft.

While not optimal you can still do it. My big concern would be water. That back seat is a wet area as I'm sure you well know. Why not put it under the dash. It ain't hard.

I would use 3/4" MDF. By the looks of that ply, it's not the best in the world. You can get ply with an MDF core, but that don't look like it. What you have will still work though. I would fill that thing up with polyfill and go for it. Just be sure to seal the crap out of the box. Glue it, screw it and caulk all the seams on the inside. Then stuff it with polyfill and you'll get some decent bass out of it.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

The more I think about it the more I might go with mdf. I'll rebuild it as soon as DOMZ drops off those sheets at my house

So I guess they only build 12" houses in MN? I don't think I've ever seen a smaller sheet of MDF or HDF than 4' X 8".

                    Strange I tell you, Strange.

Man I hear you there. Most of my trips to Home Depot involve a lot of explaining, and some weird hand gestures, just to get Mc-Lumberyard guy to understand what I am looking for.

They come in 12" rips for making paintgrade shelving. They will also cut any size rips or pieces you want, usually free of charge. Just by the sheet or rips and have them cut the pieces. At least they will do that at the HD. Don't know about the others.
