Dude, I can't go to Walmart, I work for Target Corp!! Bad Bad Bad.

oh, was that my outside typing??

I'll look to see what I can find.

And my amp is already a mono amp, only a + and a - out. So bridging is not an option there, right?
I used to work for Target, in college I was a TPS (commence TPS report Jokes!) then an APS, then I transfered to the Salesfloor as a Level III team lead (Children's, Men's, Shoes )

I do not remember those times fondly......

I'm a TA in TTS, so short of having to wear a tie every day, its good so far. Only been here for 5 mos.

I can go to JoAnn's Fabric to get some. Always fun to see all the chicks there

You'd be surprised how many hotties are closet crafties

Hotties! What? Chicks who make their own clothes are not considered hotties where I come from

Target is a good Corp to work for, my negative experiences all dealt with lower lever power hungry peons.

Be gentle with the polyfil, and be sure that you actually need it before you leave it in there. Polyfil causes more problems than it solves usually.

Clearly you don't get out much

Or maybe up here in the Great White North, we stay in too much

You got that memo, right? Perhaps you could tell me what PC loadletter means?

                Someone had to.

Yes please explain. My stereo guy recomended it for my particular sub. He runs these subs in competition so I was assuming (there's that damn word again) he knows what he's talking about. What ills can come from it? I ran mine with various amounts from none to full and the more I put in, the better it sounded. I dunno.

Polyfil should only be used to cancel standing waves, or in minimal cases where the box is slightly too big for the tightness of response you are looking for. If you don't have a problem with standing waves, polyfil isn't going to do anything but make you spend money. I wrote alot more about it over in another topic. Some people believe in though.....but it does what it does and that's it. I studied this at the University when I was doing advanced recording techniques for studio recording, using kick drums, and even sound rooms as examples....polyfil/padding limits response.

No harm other than it may sound like poo compared to the same box without it.....you have to try it both ways to see.....

It may sound better because of the amount of backpressure in the box, etc, etc....maybe it just sounds good to you even though it is really underperforming. I hear rasty *** bass and distorted music from people all the time that they think sounds great......Do what you like y'know. you are the one that has to listen to it so make it sound good to you.

On a side note saying a particular sub sounds good with polyfil is like saying a steak cuts better with a ceramic dinner plate and not a paper one. Polyfil has nothing to do with the sub and everything to do with the enclosure, just like the knife has nothing to do with the steak and everything to do with the plate. No manufacturer makes a sub and says....."Man this thing is gonna rock with some polyfil!" I haven't used polyfil in years.

Thanks sp, I'll try the poly, as long as I spent the 1.99 to get it See how it sounds. If anything the enclosure I have is a bit too small for the driver I got in there.

Sounds like we need to get Matt to change spharis from "Tige Junkie" to "Mr. Know-it-all-stereo guy"

                        Seriously, great explanation!

THE ONLY TIME A FILLER SHOULD BE USED IS IF YOU ARE TRYING TO FOOL THE THE SPEAKER,,, IN TO REACTING LIKE THE BOX IS SMALLER THAN IT IS..
AND OR A PORTED BOX.....IF THE BOX IS THE RIGHT DIMENSIONS SHOULDNT NEED IT......IT WILL DEFINITLEY TIGHTEN IT UP.
