I'm in the market for a x-over boat. I've been shopping around and just sniffing out all the options out there. I'm leaning towards the Malibu VTX or the MC X-2, but want to explore what Tige has because of the obvious savings in price. Does anybody use the 20V for skiing & how is it? What about boarding? The guy at the boat show told me that ballasts are not really necessary on this boat, but want to know if that is true? What about surfing? How is the 20V for surfing? Anything feedback you can give me would be great. Thanks

For most people on the water, you are going to find the wake behind the 20V sufficient. Now if you are out there throwing more then 4 inverts then, yes you would want some ballast, but you will also want more ballast in the other brands you are talking about.
If you want a boat that can ski, wakeboard and surf behind, plus have a great deal of storeage and cruise the lake, go with the tige. And yes you will need a fat sac thrown on the side for your surfing.

I looked at Mastercraft, Malibu, and Tige except in the 23 feet range instead of 20. The reasons I went for Tige are simlilar to hyper4life's points:
1. Versatility
2. How it rides on big lakes
3. Comfort (interior size)
4. Design (How it looks)
5. Ballast - The TAPS system and the amount of people that I take provide a good enough wake for me and my family's level. However, I am going to add a ballast system for wakesurfing.
6. Storage
7. Price
I like the Mastercrafts and Malibus a lot, but Tige provided more of what I was looking for and at a better price.
Good luck on your decision and hope to see more of you on the forum.

Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback. Most of the lakes we ride on here in BC are large, so the fact that tiges are great on the open rough water was a big selling point for me. In terms of ballast for the 20V, what do you guys recommend? Is it better to go with the factory installed or to go with after market gear? I've been on a boat when a fat sack was punctured and really don't wanna go down that road with my own boat.

Factory ballast (600#) will get you a 3 yr warrenty and you could always add to it if you find you need more.
I think you will find the deeper floor and seating in the Tige to be more comfortable after a long day on the lake and the deep V of the bow really handles the chop well.
The 340 hp is well worth the upgrade.
been said already, but, take them all for a ride. No matter how "good" the boat is or how big the pricetag, if the boat does not fit your needs.............Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I just took delivery of my new Tige' last week... had looked pretty hard at the Malibu also (MC and Nautique are just out of reason on their price for what you get IMHO). I'm a slalom skier but have 2 teenage sons that wakeboard... after trying out several boats (one of the advantages to living in Abilene!) I decided the perfect 'x-over' boat for me was the Tige' 22i with TAPS.2017 Tige' Z3--Navy/Silver, Tan interior, Raptor 400.

Welcome. I've had my 20v since June, Love it! My wife liked the malibu for the bling. After much research & this board (the guys here are excellent) we went with Tige. The final factor was the dealer (Redline is great). The boat been good for skiing & surfing. Are you in the lower mainland? If so PM me & i'll take you for a board/ski.
