I had to drill holes to mount my tower, and it was nerve racking! We literally planned for 3 hours, and actually mounted the thing in about an hour....then we drank!
I suspect this will be similar. Measure 40 times, prepare to drill, measure again, then one more time and then hold your breath and drill.
Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.
The adheasive I spoke of is 3m maring 5200 it is a fast cure they also make a slow cure, this is the stuff that everybody should be using for below the waterline applications not silicone. You could use silicone up top on your transom mount remote. Sorry I did forget about the tape. Also drill a 1/16 pilot hole just to make sure your measurements are correct it is alot easer to fix htat than a 2"hole. Dont worry its not like your drilling the bottom of your boat and installing a thru-hull scoop for ballast I did that last fall and I thing I'm still drinking what a day that was!!!!!
4-7-09 And still employeed for yet another week (subject to change at any moment)have we hit bottom yet?
Cool thanks for that. I drilled all sorts of holes in my old Supra, that was no big deal. Its just that my Tigé is so pretty. I really want to keep it that way, ya know? And yes, there will be plenty of drinking after this and the cleats I'm going to install. I'm a bit more nervous about those

I did mine by myself....hardest part was drilling through the dang flange to pin it.........need to sharpen my bits I guess. Had to get the neighbor to hold backup while I went into the hatch for one foot. I think I spent an hour and a half tops. I forgot masking tape under one of the feet though, so I had to pull it back up. Super simple install.....the damned articles I was reading made it sound difficult.

It's easy if you put it in the center of two things on the transom. Mark 2 lines, and the intersection is the center. Drill away.
yeah, amazing, I can build half a house no problem, build all sorts of stuff, drill holes in the outside of my house, but I'm nervous as a teenager buying condoms for the first time when it comes to drilling holes in my boat. Go figure.

I was pretty nervous when I had to drill that nice big 2 inch hole in the bottom of my brand new boat to install the perfect pass paddle wheel. Now I'm thinking of doing some of the underwater lights so it looks like I would be making two more 2 inch holes in the transom. We'll see.
