I want to put the grab bar from the 22i, that has a built in ski tow, which would solve the problem of where to attach the towables for the kids.

20 and 21i have the same grab bar.........for the few times we pull tubers that is where we pull from...but if we are pulling the PUKE MACHINE I always pull from the tower!

I always pull from the tower. Gives them a little more "lift" on the bumps

I thought we ruled the tower unsafe for tubing.

Why would the tower be unsafe? I pull from the tower as well without problems. What's the difference pulling a couple kids on a tube vs a 200 lb plus person? In fact i always see boats pulling from the tower around here, gives the adventuresome more air! The little ones don't get pulled at more than 15mph, but i pull the bigger ones I'll faster as it gives 'em a bit more air on the wake.

On my old boat, I actually pulled the tow ring out when the tube flipped over and started to drag in the water.

I think (or at least would certainly hope) that the tower is much stronger than that. I'm no physicist, but four mount points spread out over a large area would be much stronger than a single point of failure.

My point exactly. In fact while going over the boat a few months back i noticed the tow ring was loose, now that instills confidence. I can't talk about other towers but mine is so rigid it's unbelievable and mounted with no less than 16 bolts with massive top nad bottom plates. Not going anywhere, unlike my pylon which i can't completely tighten up for some reason

I never understood it either but I guess there is more downward pressure so you're not supposed to do it. That's why I bought one of these:

and use the transom hooks. I know you can't do this on an RZ2, but that's what I do.

Well JMO but i've read nothing that convinces me it shouldn't be done. I'll say this, when a tower is constructed and mounted the way mine is it become an integral part of the boat and is a hell of a lot stronger than the pylon or the ring. Just out of curiosity i called the makers and they said no problem so i guess each mfr. has their own set of rules per se.

Reason why is because if your tube were to submerge it would put way too much force on the tower especially if it would submerge in a turn.

I hope in the next few models Tigé addresses this issue with a reinforced ski pylon.....if just to allow Talltigeguy to sleep better at night.

He's right btw, the ski pylon design is.....lacking
