    Ballast Setup??

    Hi!!

I've just filled the spraypockets of my 2001 21v and now I'm working on the fully automatic ballast system. The setup will be 2*400 in the rear compartments and 1*650 in the front.

What I'm thinking of is if this is enough or if I should add some extra lead in the boat as well. Is there anyone out there who got any ideas?

That sounds pretty good and about the right %, front/back. I'd start with that and it should give you a real nice wake. Then if you want more, you can experiment with bags or add lead. I also use a few carpeted bars on the floor to move around as needed and to keep it balanced side to side.

You are going to have a terrific wake with that setup. I had the 21V and loved it. Filling in the spray pockets will make the wake a little more clean as well. Strong Work!

A cutout on the stern of the boat to remove the spray for slalom skiers.

I would imagine that filling in the pockets also added a few hundred pounds to each side of the rear of the boat. Could you tell me a little more about the process? I've got the same boat and always wondered about it since I first saw a guy post about it a couple of years back...

Let's see some pics of the before and after (spray pockets)...

I'm sorry but I don't have any pics of the plastic work done to the spraypockets, but I can get some of the pre pics.. I don't know how much weight thats been added but I don't think its that much. maybe a hundred on each side. But I didn't do the work so I can't say for sure.

What type of system are you putting in? Aerators or Reversible pumps? I am contemplating doing my own ballast system also. Only thing I am not 100% sure on is the electrical.
                      Let it be!!!

It will be reversible pumps, Johnson f4b-19 ballast pumps. Pretty much the same pump as Jabscos ballast puppy, but the johnson pump fills 2 gpm faster. Tried theese pumps last year on a 22v and they worked great.

Got some links on these pump and do they require check valves or are they integral with the pump? Whats the GPH's available?

                          Thanks
