If you leave Havasu you travel north throught the Topock gourge staying to your left. You travel about 10 miles and you will have a large right hand turn and BAM you are at the Sandbar (yes it is an actual and huge sandbar). You will see a ton of boats all around on the sandbar. I normaly venture to the back side near the right and either do the mini sandbar across if there is room or stay towards the back where there is less current and also less crazy stuff (we call it the family section). Take some footballs, Volleyball stuff, Bochie ball, or Frisbee and there is a ton of room to run around and have fun, just watch out for anchor lines and sand spikes so no one gets hurt.

Here is some good info. http://www.havasudoug.com/

You have some good info to get started with here... XP Jim and and I concur on the campgrounds etc... Crazy Horse is usually a little...shall we say Crazy. If you are tenting, you can go down to Catail Cove or any of the state tent sites accessable by boat. Get your reservations done pretty quick though...

The eatery lists have been good and I would only add Casa Fernandez on Industrial for great Carne Asada... Great stuff and very close to the Windsor launch ramp.

Bring you wet suits... Have fun and be safe...
