    Lake Havasu

Hello Everyone... My family is the proud new owners of a 22ve. I can't wait for it to heat up in Colorado to get out on the water... so I am planning on heading out to Havasu during my spring break. I will be out there the week of March 5-9. I have never been out there before and I am looking for a few tips and advice. I am planning on tent camping out there... does anyone know where the best campsites are? Any advice or tips for a rookie will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Conor

I don't normally camp tent but Crazy Horse is on the Island and is always popular. I haven't camped there. Very often you will find many snow bird in the campsites at that time of the year. Wake Havasu might be the main guy to ask. I camp up river at Park Moabi. Watch taking your boat through the gorge. It can eat up props unless you know where you are going and keep and eye on the water levels. It can be one of the coolest trips around because the Topock gorge is like the Grand Canyon only accessable by boat.

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the Forum. Post some pics when you get a chance.

I can't tell you anything about Havi, but do have a couple of tips before you head out.

Take a couple of "shake down" cruises close to home to make sure there are no bugs (both you and the boat ) to work out and get a good lake map of wherever you plan on boating.

        Welcome to the Tige family!

A spare prop and weekend saver kit might not be a bad idea for Havasu excursions. Another prop group buy in the works???

Tequila is talking about how nice we are, but his quote includes brass knuckles and profanity.

Welcome to the Tige family. Good advice from chpthrill. Take a few brief trips at home to make sure you are familiar with your machine. Get a spare prop. There are those who have dinged their prop and those who are going to. I wish I had actually taken a prop off before I needed to take mine off. I dinged my prop at Lake Powell and got off the lake just before a storm blew in. It was a lot of fun as wind and dirt and rain was blowing all over me while I was trying to get the prop off. It would be nice the first time to do it in a controlled atmosphere.
            Be excellent to one another.

              Welcome to the Family.

Havasu is a vile, sin filled arena with degrading displays of drunkenness and nudity.

              What happens at Havasu...

Often ends up on a Girls gone wild DVD.

Heres a shot of the Lake.

Note near the top of the pic the brown in the river! That's the beginning of the Gorge to get to "sandbar" ( Huge hangout) or the route to Topock.

Launching: If you use Windsor State Beach Launch Site and its full try “the Marina” ( Over the London Bridge and onto the Island) next followed by Cat Tail Cove as last resort.

Cat Tail is a good 9 miles south of the city but you can almost always get in the water there.

On the Lake The Northern most portion of the lake is the shallowest.

If you do decide to boat up north on the lake, watch others and make certain that they are props not jets for a safe path to go through the Gorge to Topock.

Food: MudSharks for Pizza, Shugrue’s and Cha Bones for fancy food. for Breakfast Pappa Bears.

Park your boat in the channel next to the London Bridge and go up to Javelenas for Mexican.
