It's nice, I let a couple fisherman on out of the goodness of my heart...they got to see me eat it over and over trying to do a stupid back flip.

geoff, i recomend you try lake piru in the mornings or eveningns, it has great water if you get there early enough but wont last as it gets incredibly crowded later on in the day.

            Hit San Vicente on Sunday...

Too far for what its worth to me. Alot of the negativity stems around me inviting friends out and both of them had to back out because of their lady's. So my wife, kids and I headed down to SD to check out San Vicente at 7:30 in the morning. The two maps I had were completely wrong and lets just say I was in Lakeside and Poway for 2 hrs. before I decided to head back north take the 52 in Escondido and go through Ramona and finally get to the 67 which we turned around on 3x. By the time I got to the lake it was full and I had to wait till someone left. I didnt get the boat in the water till 12:40. It is however a nice lake, but because of my experience I dont know if I will do that one again. Ohh and my wife got the boat sideways on the trailer and marked up the side. She is fresh for that one. When I was leaving I went a different way and ended up in the same spot where I was driving around all morning trying to find the lake. I would have been better off if Sunday just didnt happen.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good time on Sunday, Vicente is a bit out there but if you get there early it's worth the trek.

I'm guessing you probably still had a good time being on the water, right? No crazy PWC's buzzing you like at Perris I hope.

No... no PWC's thank god. Yeah once I was on the water I was good. Or was it until I cracked open my first beer? It was the rest of the day I would rather forget. You still going out this weekend Joe?

                  ssrgeoff,

Sorry to hear about your trip to San Vicente. Next time let me know and I can give you some simple directions.

I am thinking about head out there this weekend. One thing that I would suggest to both you and joe is if you tend to head to San Vicente I would look into putting a strainer on you raw water intake.

The problem that I was having with my engine overheating was that I sucked up a lot of the mulch that is in the water and it clogged me transmission cooler which cut off the water supply to the engine.

Hope you have better trip when you head out there again.

I'm going to head out there this Sunday with some buddies of mine....you want to try your hand at getting down there again and we could meet up? I went to Perris on Friday and it would have been soooo great but the freakin wind was throwin white caps on the water....nothing worse man...empy lake but it was like the ocean out there.

                    forjar -
Can you give us those directions? Starting from I-15 south...I got there without too much hassle last time but wondering if maybe you have an easier way. Thanks for the tip on the strainer, I spend most of my time @ Perris or Havasu but Vicente is my way to mix it up...not so much my regular place to ride but it's good to know in case I notice any overheating.

Maybe all three of us could link up there this Sunday?

                      forjar,
What all is involved in doing that? If it isnt to much of a hassle I may do it myself. I am not too mechanicaly inclined when it comes to boat engines. Would this void any kind of warranty on the motor?

                      Joe,
Not sure what my plans are this weekend, I have a friend who may plan a trip to Havasu, but this is the same friend who cancelled on me last minute this past weekend. I will let you know, it would be cool to finally meet up with you guys though.

                        ssrgeoff,

Not much involved with puting in the strainer. All you need to do is make a cut in the water inlet line and place the strainer in the line. It also makes it nice because you can also put a connection in for you to flush the motor. All I have to do is hook up my hose to the strainer and I am able to flush the motor. Don't have to mess with a fake a lake anymore.

All you need is a stranier and a couple of fiitings.

                        1 Stranier
                        1 Brass t-fitting 1inch
                        2 Brass 1 inch extensions
                        1 Brass 90- degree fitting
2 nylon 1 1/4 fitting to insert into the hose.
1 fitting that allows you to connect your hose.

I will take some pictures and post. It only took about and hour to install. Most time spend find a good place that the stranier would fit.

I was planning on Saturday, but Sunday would be good.

                        Directions,

For coming south down the 15 I would take Scripps Poway Parkway, head east until it dead ends. You will need to make the right at the light and you will be on 67. You can take the 67 down to Vigilante Road and make a left, but they are currently doing work on the road and unknown the conditions. So I would take the 67 down to Willow Rd and make a left. At the next street which would be Morena make a left and that will take you right into the lake.

So 15 south to Scripps Poway Parkway, head east till it dead ends. Take right onto 67 head south to Willow Rd. Make Left onto Willow Rd, then make the next left onto Morena Ave and follow Morena right up to the lake.

Let me know if that helps

                              Forjar,
Thanks for the new directions. I ended up leaving going through Poway Rd. I wouldnt recommend Vigilante Rd. right now because of the construction. You basically need to make a U-turn to Morena and I had a mother of a time since my truck alone measures 22ft. not to mention my boat at another 22ft. Definately go Willow.

                              Joe,
What time are you headed down their Sunday?
