How do they determine seating capacity?

Explain what, i dont know either. I always thought it had to do with length, width, and how much floation was in the floor.

I was hoping for something more scientific than just a math problem.

The flotation is what I heard also as to the capacity changing on the same boat. I have a 2005 22v that says 10 and I believe the 2006 22v was certified for 11 or 12. I will ask the coast guard guy that is at the ramp next time we go out, should be within a couple weeks I know he always wants to talk to us as he sees enough beer go into the boat to keep a frat house happy.

Well I think thats about all it is.

Ofcourse its how many people can safely be on your boat, but how do they determine that? That is the question. Buoyancy is probably the major factor, How much added weight is too much.

BUT, I have a relative that has a 23 foot cobalt, Its rated for 9 people. My 21i is rated for 10. GO FIGURE! Im not sure on the weight rating.

I do believe what Cheap Thrill was trying to say is that you friend looks like he likes his tige' as much as those Tige' haters on WW do. Meaning if a MC owner owned a Tige' it would look much like your friends there
