Fresh Air Exhaust

It doesnt lower or reduce anything; all it does is re-route the exhaust to under the water. This results in lower noise levels, and reduced CO at slow speeds as the exhaust is underwater farther. Your boat will still have just as much CO coming out of the pipes. It's similar to running the exhaust on your car up and over the top so that it blows above the bumper. You could walk around the back of the car without breathing exhaust gas as it would be over your head.
chpthril read the same reports I did......I won't be buying one at over $350. it doesn't seem that engineered, or expensive as far as materials go; and the reduced amount of CO was barely anything unless you were riding on the platform all day. It's just not worth it for me.http://www.wakeboatworld.com

Sorry, not trying to convince you guys that don't want it, just a little rational. I know it will make a difference behind ours and would like to add it.

He we go with semantics again. I should have said it reduced CO concentrations as measured in various locations in and behind the boat based on speed. In some instances those concentrations increased.
I agree that the CO coming out the exhaust is the same (not reduced)but even the report states that all the CO might not reach the surface as it is scrubbed or broken down in the water. To me that implies that the CO is reduced after it leaves your exhaust and before it reaches the surface. Again in my last post I said I am not a scientist so this is my last post on the workings.
Again I have been in boats with it, like less emission smell, less noise and the potential for a safer boat. For me the cost was minimal.
Again, everyone do the research and decide for yourself if this option is for you.Let it be!!!

For me less is better (CO that is)

Not just surfing, all the time...it doesn't reduce exhaust, to the best of my knowledge just redirects it
I know when we surf, it's there and the wife is worried about the kids-she really doesen't say much when I'm surfing.
it puts the exhaust in the prop wash so it ends up way behind the.
with that said, I need a drink. Off to the drink of choice thread where I hope alcohol concentrations will be increased to max levels. Lets go on over and have a cold one spharis and chpthrl
I'm not trying to talk anyone out of buying, I am interested in one myself, that is why I have read the report 3 times now.
I would like to see the results from the FI'ed Tige, these newer boats are so efficient, that I would bet that the new boat w/o FAE are lower than the carburated boat (used in test) with FAE.
As I posted earlier, PLEASE read the report before you make up your mind whether or not these small (average based on location, speed, and distance behind boat) CO reductions are worth it. Don't be lulled into thinking that you will never breath any CO's again after installing one.
I applaud this company for an inovative product and for trying to make watersports safer. IMHO, more testing needs to be done before a 90% CO reduction can be claimed.

There was an increase in CO's w/ FAE at a higher speeds @ 60 ft @ 2 ft abuve the water, right were we tube. This is a result of the air bubbles coming to the surface. The idea of "scrubbing" is inconclusive because water temp and O2 levels will effect this reaction.
Please read the CDC/USCG report, not the adversisement on the homepage. Yes it does reduce noise. The 90% CO reduction (as claimed by the website that the report shows) was on the swimstep. Riding on the swimstep is niether safe, nor legal on any public lake that I know of.
Yes. At idle the fumes are still right below the swimplatform and can still "stationwagon" as the data indicates. As boat speed increases, the exhaust fumes are surfacing further behind the boat.
We all need to remember that CO is colorless, oderless, tastless. Most people dont realize that they are suffering the effects of CO poisoning. As captains, we need to look out for our passengers.
the reports suggeste that distance is relative to speed.
Amen

SORRY FOR THE HIJACK!!!!!
Todd/Pauly,
I know Michael H. *green/white 21i* is the guy @ the lake looking @ one and honestly I wouldn't mind having one as well. I would like to get in a Tige and hear the difference for myself. But I agree that Wakeworld did have alot of mixed reviews about it......but since posting on here a good bit I don't even visit wakeworld that often!!!!
Todd you heading to Raystown this summer for the TOG weekend? I Have a list of names from Blaine that i need to contact...Basically everyone who bought a boat from him and I should be getting a MASS email out the end of this week or this coming weekend. Was going to wait even longer to get the info about the INT from Kathy.....but I can email that out later. The big thing Blaine needs are people who are IN for Raystown b/c of campsite allocation. So just shoot me an email letting me know. June 15-17! my email is dillons583@earthlink.net Thanks! I remember seeing your boat up there last year... but I have no clue where you were staying @ the campground.............. We all need to definitely hook up before Raystown so that we are not all strangers once we get up there!

What a pleasant, civil, little discusion, were having. Man, we are a bunch of nice guys. If we were at the bar, I'd buy you all a round.
People have been boating without FAE's for a long time now. Chances are, if you have half a brain, you're not doing to die from it. But I'll tell you what, I love my FAE. Especially while surfing. Now, I know CO is undetectable to the human senses and all that, but you know when you're sucking exhaust. With the FAE, all we get in the back of the boat is fresh air. Seriously. The noise reduction is just a bonus for me.You'll get your chance, smart guy.
