    Wetsounds/Tower Speak Conundrum

So this weekend I ran in to a smoking deal on some Pro 485's which I couldn't pass up. However I am running in to a bit of a conundrum. Wetsounds only makes the tower speakers in white and black, my current tower speakers are chrome. My boat also has no white or black in it other than the vinyl. I spoke with Tim over at Wetsounds and he told me that the chrome versions are still in the R&D phases and gave me some ideas on how his past customers painted there enclosures. Ideally I would have waited for them to come out but like I said I cant pass this offer up.

I want to run a single Pro 485 in the middle of the tower speakers. But haven't decided on what I should do with the color mismatch. Is there a way to make the Wetsounds enclosure chrome? Should I paint the cans and 485 the same color, if so which color? Or should I just wait until the Wetsounds come out with a Chrome version? I am saving a few hundred dollars if I buy the speakers now however I am not sure on the cost associated with painting the cans. Opinions, thoughts?

I have attached a picture for visualization purposes.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Matt,

I would powdercoat the cans and paint the enclosure. You could go all black or white, which would only be cost for powder on the cans. I have a powder guy it wouldnt be that expensive for a base color like black or white to powdercoat. You would have to dismantle the speaker prior to taking to him, due to powdercoat is a baking process.

White cans would probably wont be bad along with a white 485. I will give you a call.

I think the black would look good with the grey on your boat. Mix that with the two chrome cans on outside it will look sweet.

If we anyone is good with photoshop post up the boat with the white and black to see how each would look.

I would get the black and paint your current cans black, even over chrome. Once, you see the speakers close up, there are little rubber caps that cover the screw holes. I don't know how well the two different materials will hold a color. If you plan on taking them off and on, I imagine that it will be just a matter of time when you will start to get scratches.

What about painting the 485 orange with a chrome graphic and do the same graphic in orange for the chrome cans?

Black seems to be the general consesus. The shop selling me the speakers agreed with black too.

Nickypoo, not sure if I could match up the orange with my gelcoat orange. I also dont think I would like orange tower speakers.
