The RZ4 had a 485 with 2 Tige/Skylon cans. Dont know if they had Kickers or Wets in them though.


Can someone explain why "plastic" is such a bad thing??? Does it effect the sound in any way, because they dont flex at all. The thing I like about the composite housing is the light weight. That really take a load off the Tower.

Some one would have to give me a set to prove they can out perform or equally perform to an aluminum or wood enclosure

Light weight and water resistant and my weigh around 34lbs each, so weight does become an issue.

Looking at all those boats backed into the beach -
Do you guys drive them in in reverse or walk them in? May sound dumb, but I can't back mine where I want it to go to save my life. It's pretty embarrasing in tight docks with a lot of people around. Just wondering if there is a trick?

No it was more just to get MOKI going. I really do like the composite. It is as you said light weight and has no flex. Tim and the wet sounds team has put together a great program. The is no other boat that will as loud be as a TIGE is from the factory now.

G-Money the only wood box you will find in my boat is none. I may build a fiberglass box for the sub under the drivers seat this winter if I get time to get a little bit more Bass going on.

Aim to the left of where you want to go. At best, it will go straight while held hard a left, but most likely it will back to the right no matter what you do.

They were completely for show. No wires were even connected to them. They were too busy at the shop to get it all amp'd up.

I am not sure, but I think the combination of HLCD and 'regular' speakers would probably sound funny.

I bet it would have sounded good if they has got them connected. The boat sounded good with out them.

I back mine in. Backing takes practice. I also let people unload from the teak to the dock as well so that way they don't have to take their shoes off on the deck, and it just looks different and is fun Practice backing up and you will figure it out.

There are many types of materials you can build a speaker enclosure out of. You want an enclosure that is stiff. You also want one that does not resonate, which will cause distortion. In building a home audio speaker or subwoofer box. Most use MDF. Which is a great material for that application. Obviously, not for a tower speaker. So for tower speakers, it is usually metal or a composite. Metal can be a good material if it is thick enough or if there is sound deadening material like a dynamat that keeps the housing from resonating. Except most metal wakeboard tower speakers do not have the dampening needed. As you will add weight to what can already be a heavy material. We use a special composite that is light yet rigid and is acoustically inert. It does not resonate. Thus giving our housings an acoustical advantage. Not just an advantage in the weight area. So yes, a composite housing is better in the acoustics department. If you look at every outdoor speaker on the market whether it be a home speaker or commercial speaker, the housings will be some sort of plastic composite. Just look at any restaurant or sports bar and you will see what I mean. This is the standard in outdoor speakers. The reason you see a lot of metal tower speakers is the costs associated and the manufacturing capability. Engineering and designing and tooling a composite enclosure is more difficult and more expensive. And you have to have the manufacturing capability.

Black seems to be the general consesus. The shop selling me the speakers agreed with black too.

Nickypoo, not sure if I could match up the orange with my gelcoat orange. I also dont think I would like orange tower speakers.

Lunchbox, I never ended up getting them. The speakers werent a big priority for me at the time and I did not want to mess with customizing them.

I will end up putting some Wetsounds on my Tige in the future but just havent pulled the trigger yet. Maybe by then Tim will have chrome enclosures which is what I really want.
