My guess is that care and speed while loading will help alot. That is why my son loads and I pull out.

      I'm doing 15mph now, think I should 20mph

seriously though, if you run your fingers down the RR, every screwhead will catch your finger. Evan floating the boat on, the screws will catch the covers.

One other thing that we do when loading on the trailer is to have people in the boat grab the guide posts and attempt to center the bow. This, of course is good up to 14 mph. Any faster and your on your own...

You might look for a smaller head stainless screw at home depot or somewhere and replace them. Then they would countersink a little deeper. You could also wrap the foam with something at that height (rubber from a bike tire tube or something to resist the damage better. Just thinking out loud.

or you can pull the boat on straight and not use the guideposts. They are just guidleilnes anyway and are to be ignored. Oh wait those are business guidelines, sorry.

I think more speed is the answer
                            Let it be!!!
