    Manual Pump for bilge

Has anyone ever used some sort of hand pump for the bilge area? I have some standing water in my bilge area after draining my block that I cant seem to get out since its not enough to pickup on the automatic bilge. I was thinking about some sort of manual pump with some plastic tubing that I could stick in the bilge. I don't have an electrical outlet by my dry storage so that's why it needs to be manual or battery powered.

    Any ideas?

What I use is my Wet Dry vac to take out as much as possible.

bfrank, I typically do the same but I drain my block after each winter ride and there isnt an electrical outlet in my storage. Although there are outlets in my storage lot, I suppose I could use those.

Ive used the hand pumps in the past but it never seems to get it all out like a shop vac.

You could use a big sponge and bucket, I have done that before when I have not had access to power.

i just tilt the boat up or down, and it all comes out using the wheel up front in the trailer

Get a small wet dry vac and an inverter for you car or you can hook it up to the boat battery.

is this really a big problem? do you have that much water in the boat? Mine always goes right out of the center plug. OH YEAH, i forgot the new tige's don't have a center drain plug, i forgot, that might be why I'm lucky, well in one way.

The water collects right in front of the drive shaft so moving the front wheel up and down will not move the water out of the bilge.

Its not a big problem but I am anal and don't like anything foreign in there, whether it be water or dirt.

Anyway, those are some good ideas, thanks.

                    Matt,

Yeah I forgot that not all the boats now have the front hole. Nothing ever comes out of my rear one. Just the center one. For the winter I make sure it's all out. Have you ever thought about also just pulling the plug while your still on the ramp? That would get a lot of stuff out as well. One friend of mine does that on his 24v

I have a steep driveway so i just pull up on it, pull the rear plug, crank up the jack all the way and out it all comes, piece of cake!

I do pull the rear plug at the ramp but I dont do full on winterization at the ramp. On my boat it requires me to unscrew two knock sensors and the heater hoses which came take some time so I do it at my storage unit.

wow, that's interesting matt. Pretty intense winterization. Mine is so easy it's sad Guess I get to look forward to that when I upgrade my boat down the road. Also guess it depends where I live, we don't have to winterize them here in So Cal, good to know since I'm going to get my boat this week FINALLY!!!

Evan w/ a 4" block under my trailer jack, the water still ran to the front of the bilge. I had to drive it around the block to get it to drain.

Matt, you could use a Kerosene pump, Lowes $10.00. the one on line says it's battery powered. sorry, cant post a pic, cant get pic manager to open right now
