      I think that it is becoming clear that you should drive the boat through the worst part. If the lake comes up 12 feet, (which it almost certainly will), then the narrows will be a thing of the past for most people, you can then go around that area.

      Interesting, the tracking fin does look busted, perhaps this is a pattern of boat maltreatment?

        We always drive our boats out in front of the house boat to find a camp area. So, I have never towed our boats. From looking at these pictures, I don't think that I will start.

          I think that I would have found shore before the storm hit. That is just a terrible thought--swamping a boat.

            ill be sure to remember to tow with a long ole line if I ever do tow it. Makes sense to me that a longer line allows more slack, allows the boat to go over the waves, not through them.

              Only thing about the long line...how do you slow the tow boat down when you stop our slow down?

                Being naive on this subject (which i intend to stay that way ), for that matter how do you slow it down with a short line?

                    I am taking my 22v to powell this summer, we always tow the boat behind the houseboat(to save fuel, engine wear/tear..) but now i am a bit concerned if this whole "swamp my boat" thing is so common.

                    Also, on a long tow line, when the houseboat slows or stops, the wakeboard has enough drag that it will slow or stop WAY before it even comes close. true story.

                      Powell

                      We have been to Powell a couple times and this last time we had our Tige. We towed ours behind the house boat for 2 days straight with no issues. We also towed a runabout IO, and 3 skis. I did quite a bit of research on towing the boats and found out a couple of things. They say that an average of one boat sinks per day each year at Powell. Most of these happen down in the narrows on the south side of the lake. We spent most of our time up near Bullfrog and the escalante arm. Not once did we have any issues with towing. I can aslo say that storms do move in quite quick at Powell and when they did our equipment was never behind the house boat. I do not believe that towing your boat behind the house boat is that bad but you really have to be smart about it.

                        Those bows look high in the water, what was the length of your tow lines.

                          I think as long as you are smart about it your fine, its if your dumb or not payin attention when you get into trouble.

                            I would also think that there was a fair share alcohol contributing to the not being smart and not paying attention part of those trips where boats have sunk.

                              I agree with you dd. That combo seems to caust the most damage and injury on lakes. Maybe why CA lowered the BAC to .06 on the water
