The boat for 68,209 had tower of power, light bar, transom light under the rear swimplatform, custom hull and deck paint to name a few. It also had the "Z--Tower" which is an incredible mark-up from the e-tower.

As to the LQ 9 or LS7 marine engines are not the same as a corvette engine. The LQ9 that MC calls a caddy north star is the engine from the esclade which is still a chevy at 385hp, the tige 6.0l is 400hp ,pcm 375hp.those engine options are 8000 and up from there.

Great Point. The engine is a huge markup--but from what I hear not always necessary.

Agree with that, I also think that wakeboarding is starting to become more mainstream...sort of like the whole MMA fighting with UFC & Pride.

LS7 is a Corvette block. LQ9 is the Northstar. Both will make you grin, and you can order a MC boat with either. Marine LS7 to Corvette LS7 difference isn't a ton, the displacement and high RPM range are the same. Corvette block has always been a MC option....they used to use the LT1, I think they have gone to the LS7 now, though I am not sure.

LQ9 is a gen IV truck V-8, the nothstar is an overhead cam V-8 car engine. The real (4.6L) northstar was used in MC's.

The new issue came in on Friday and it had the mastercraft x star base MSRP at 74k..... It lists all the standard features of the boats and the options as well. I think it had all trailers as options. 55K sounds about right for a RZ2. When I purchased my 1999 2200V from a dealer in Ms. it was 33k out the door with every option I could get back then. I had to have the dealer install a tower but I got Perfect pass, a heater, JVC speakers and head unit with dash remote, tandem axel trailer, cover, 315hp mercruiser engine, I think that about covers it. I hope the cost of making the boats has climbed 20k over the last 8 years. If not we are all getting hosed......

It does not appear the mastercraft can be ordered with either of those engines. I just tried the build a boat and neither one of seems available for the x-star.

I was digging around some of the forums to find info about the LS7 and it seems like mastercraft was having vaporlock problems, kind of like some of the bigger marinepowers I guess. It seems like quite a few of the high power and/or high displacement motors have problems with percolation/vaporlock in inboard boats.

the 6.0's in the cars have a returnless fuel system, I wonder if the boat do to, this is not a problem I've seen in the street version. Sounds like they need to relocate the pump/filter asm or bump up the fuel pressure.

MC called the LQ9 a caddy northstar strictly to make there engine sound more exotic, it still was a chevy 6.0l they never offered the 4.6l. All 6.0l in the marine usage had problems with overheating at low speeds causing fuel perculation problems, marine power is the only one that has corrected this issue, correct craft sales people are told to push the 5.7 , MC sales push if you want more power avoid the LQ9 and go to the 8.1. I know about the issues because I have done extensive work on the 6.0l because of my ski team boat which gets extreme usauge .

Yeah the 4.6L is the one that is badass ad in the sport coupe caddy makes, but it would never push a boat. Shame they aren't offering the LS7 yet......it can't be far off. MC has always had a corvette engine option. Maybe it's on the other models? Anyway back to the topic....it would be nice if Tige offered a killer engine, or twins.....I don't know it just seems like the prices are jumping out of the Tige' customer market. They seem to be going after the upper-mid market shopper now, vs jst the middle.

I want a diesel. There is an X-star here that has a yanmar in it. The guy owns a ship service company among other things so he has the money to do that, but I think it would still rock!

I saw a post somewhere about two weeks ago showing a press release from one of the marine power mfgrs (Indmar i think) that stated they are going to offer a deisel for '07. I'll have to see if i can find it again.
