    Opinions Needed - 2013-2015 RZ4

Hi guys, looking for some opinions from the Tige pro's on this board. Right now our family is rocking a 2013 Z1 that's setup beautifully for surfing. We really love the boat and everything that it does ( we purchased it pretty much new in 2015 and it is in great condition today). Coming from mastercraft's and malibu's, it has really stepped up our game. Problem is that it is a little small for us when we have 6 or 8 folks with us ( might not be a problem this summer with covid tho ). We really would like to have more room without spending a lot of extra money this year.

I've found a couple of newer (2013,2014,2015) RZ4's here in BC and would like to know if anybody has had any real life experience on how the RZ4 performs in terms of surfabilty. Are these boats going to give a better/bigger surf wave than my dialed Z1?

A few years ago Ragboy did a Youtube review on a 2012 RZ4 that was really positive. I've read on other forums that the wave can be very steep and hard to ride. Better wave if it had a VX or an AXV so would look into that too.

Anybody tried a suckgate or mounted go surf assist (or other plates) that can comment?

    Thanks guys!

So I will put out the first comment. RZ4 is a wonderful boat. It is large and very well made. I do have limited time on them but it was one of my favorite boats during those years that Tiga put out. You will find it has a whole lot more interior space then did your previous boat. Now as far as the wave goes it is steep but steep can be nice. Crashing from the top to the bottom and hitting a hard bottom turn can be exhilarating. However the boat requires a lot of weight in order to get it sunk in the water enough to really build it was that is respectable. It needs a lot of weight because it is such a large boat and the pickle fork style front makes the playpen area wonderful for the kiddos.

I am sure others will come along and chiman. I can't answer for suck Gates or tabs or the go surf assist on one of these haven't heard much about it. The sub Gates seem to work really well for what they actually are on most boats. If you do decide to look be sure to take a good test ride on the water and have a mechanic check it out. Right now with the way the economy is headed there will probably be some fantastic deals out there.

I see you are form kelowna! I'm guessing you're looking at the two boats Seca has in stock. The green rz4 they have looks like crazy clean.

Regarding the wave, personally I would skip the rz line and go for the z3. I was never a fan of the rz2 wave that my buddy had, it always had a line in it and never wanted to clean up. And the way tige did the hulls on the vx hull extension boats I don't think you can get GSA to work without doing some massive shim work. Also i don't think you will find the rz2 an upgrade over your 2013 Z1 wave wise or size, it's only a 6" difference and it is mostly in the bow.

I would hold out for a z3. Seca doesn't seem to have any right now, there are two in Saskatoon for decent prices right now. Gt (my dealer) has a few that are decent.
For how poor the economy is going right now boats that are decent in this price range do not seem to be lasting in BC or Alberta.

        Thanks Guys,

Seca Marine has really low inventory for used boats right now. I did have a chat with the guys there about their RZ4 and it only has a pcm 343 ( same as I have right now ). Might be a little under powered for such a big boat. It’s in Calgary right now so have not seen it live. Lots of green there lol.

GT has a nice looking 2016 z3 in Saskatoon but a little over priced.

Seems like the boat market in Kelowna is still moving. A guy I surf with once in a while sold his 2012 RZR privately in 1 week which was a huge surprise for me.

        Any other ideas?

This one looks nice. Take off avx and add GSA into the touch screen.

For the 343 that engine is actually decent. Ran it in a z3 with 5000lb in ballast and it didn't struggle at all, just need the right prop.

Yes, that one looks like it is in nice shape. He had it for sale last fall and probably did not sell. Good price and low hours too.

We run about 4K of weight in ours and the 343 does ok with the 1235 prop on it. Never had a problem with the pcm 343. She has been rock solid.

Just installing a new steering cable right now and will be on the water soon although no friends invited because of social distancing.

Here she is - might be on the market soon lol:

I'd disagree on the wave of a RZ, I own a RZ2 2014 here in Sask. Yes the Z3 has a nice wave but to date I have not found a great wave from a Z1. Be careful of 2013 due to interior issues so check closely. We have a VX, 1235 prop, custom TAPS plate, 350 motor and 4,000 lbs of ballast + a Mission Delta and the wave is waist high with crazy length. I run the full wave for 5 years old and up so not sure what someone means by the wave is difficult to surf....... now I haven't been behind the new 200k boats but lots of couple year old Malbu's here with surfgate and my wave is longer, steeper and a ton of more push.
So if you buy one feel free to reach out and I can help you on whats needed to make it a monster wave.

Yes, nice wave Robmc9. Gorgeous sunset. Similar setup to our Z1 with weight/prop/vx/mission delta. Our wave is similar too but not as steep.

                  Thanks for chiming in.
