    350mag throttle body removal

So, dropped the nut for the flame arrestor down the the intake. I’ve tried several different magnetic pick up tools but I just can’t get in there enough. My next plan is to pull the throttle body off. Pulled the two nuts and two bolts out but it won’t budge.

    Any ideas?

I would try a shop vac with detailing extensions on it before I pull off the TB.

    Good Luck!

^^^Thats actually a good idea. I got my first job as a detailer when I was 14. I’m pretty decent with a vacuum. You should see my windows though. Tight. I’ll figure out what I can hook up. Thanks man.

      Keep em coming.

If its a stainless nut, magnet likely wont pick it up.

If the TB has a gasket behind it, its likely just stuck good.

Got it! Had to whack the throttle body with a screw driver and hammer under the front left corner and it popped right off. Used a $10 flexible magnetic pickup tool from Harbor Freight as it was the only one small enough to get down the intake runners. Beer thirty!

The lesson here is don’t forget to close the butterfly after cleaning the throttle body.

I'd have said a few words that are 4 letters and begin with "F" after dropping that down into the engine......
              glad you retrieved.

Dude, I was so mad. Many Fbombs dropped. I had to walk away from it before I did something really stupid.

I used to have a breast pocket on all our shop t-shirts. One day a pocket full of change dropped onto the intake manifold with no carburetor on it. All pockets were subsequently torn from said shop shirts. Beer thirty indeed.

That’s funny. Well at least now it is.

Should I be concerned about anything from fishing that thing out? It was all the way down number 8. There is a sensor on that one that is right near the base of the throttle body.
