Should have been a Marine Power engine that year, PCM came around 2009 for Tige.

Do all of the spark plugs have rust on them?

      I had a 2004 22V with a PCM ZR6 in it.

PCM was an option. I think Andrew Haney's boat (SBFAN)was an 06 with the PCM motor. Taylor's boats in Salt Lake ordered them only with PCM for as long as they could when they were a Tige dealer. It very well might be the original motor.

I say that at risk of disagreeing with Lee, which by itself leaves me on shaky ground.
        Be excellent to one another.

Andy's was also the V, which 06 was its last year, so very possible PCM was an option for a V, But ive always been under the impression that all new Ve was only MP, as it was the first year of the new drive by wire. I would think a PCM and MP would require 2 very different harnesses.

If the engine did not fire, at least for a second or two with starting fluid, it has to be some sort of an ignition problem.

They were all a bit rusty. Quite a bit of rust in the engine compartment. I don’t think it was very well maintained by the last owner.

That’s what I’m thinking. Before I take it to the shop I’m gonna replace all of the basic stuff, hopefully fix it or find something while doing it.
Need to get a parts diagram so I can reference Chevy parts.

I did pull the cap when I first started troubleshooting. Very little corrosion on the posts. I sanded them down and reinstalled. But I’m gonna go ahead and get a new cap and wires.

I had a similar issue with my 07 Ve, happened all of the sudden. Engine misfire, hard start, cranked fine but didn't want to fire up and run easily. My situation was the distributor cap, considering the environment it operates in, hot engine bay with a lot of moisture and humidity the cap can be affected after years of service. Replaced cap and rotor button and my issues were corrected. Easy fix and back on the water in a jiffy. Hope it ends up being something simple.
I don't want to go to work, take me wake surfing instead!

Thought for sure it’s an ignition issue since spraying starter fluid has no effect. Replaced plugs, cap, rotor, cam sensor. Wires I bought from auto store were too short, going to have to order some. Nothing changed.
Was going to change coil next. Pulled coil wire and checked spark, it was good. Pulled a couple plug wires and checked for spark at plugs, they were good.
Probably dropping off at shop on Monday, get a diagnostic done instead of just continuing to replace everything. I’m thinking it may be an ecm issue anyway.

Is there nowhere to hook up a scanner on the older engines?

Yes there is but you will need a MEFI 4 scan tool like something from DIACOM but they are pricey. Best bet find a shop close that scan it for you but even that is going to cost an hour of labor.

Check out Rinda.com there may be some cheaper ones out now but i havent checked in a while

What about crank sensor ? No crank sensor no spark

I had one go bad on my 2004 PCM ZR6
