dog, where exactly is Lake Buchanan?

Lake Buchanan is upper most lake in the Highland Lakes chain along the Colorado River. The closest down is Burnet. It's about 55 miles from Austin. Far enough to keep most people away, close enough so that I can leave work on Friday, go out on the boat while my ribs are cooking on the grill for a couple of hours and watch the sunset over the lake while eating my dinner. It's 23K acres and I'll see 50 boats on a holiday weekend...it's pretty sweet.
