    Re-Carpeting

    Two questions-

First off, I have an '01 21V. The carpet is showing signs of wear where everybody climbs in and out of the boat and I would like to replace it.

First question. Does anybody know what weight carpet Tige used in 2001?

Second question. How hard of a job is this? On face value, it does not look like it would be that difficult. Remove the drivers seat, middle seat, and floor access section, strip out the old carpet, then fit, cut, glue, and install the new carpet. But, I know there has to more to the project than that this.

Can anybody offer up some advice?

The only thing I can say is the carpet that year was 40 oz. Other than that I have no idea....good luck!

Have you ever pilled up a linoleum floor and stripped/cleaned the glue off sub floor It's doable with a lot of blood, sweat and tears.

There are places you can send templates of your floor, and get drop-ins to cover the carpet that's there. That's what I would do vs. stripping and replacing unless I was doing a full on resto.

I like spharis's idea. Have a little extra padding to help. I do know that if you want to go ahead and remove all the padding I have something that removes the glue, from the carpet no problem. Sun tan oil. Don't ask, ok, but it works like a champ!! That 4 spf broonzing oil, yup that's the ticket. Won't even have to shead a tear or any blood, and the carpet will be coming right off.

This is exactly what I am looking for. I wish Tige would offer this as an option to have a carpet saver to drop in. I would be much easier to take out hose off and let dry while keeping the carpet looking good.

i have been in a boat that had snap in carpet and I didn'tlike it. Just like i don't like my snap in the bow of my boat. When you lean on it it moves and I have fallen many times due to the carpet moving on me. I like the fact that the carpet is glued in. Just my .02

                Note to self:

Upon losing balance on snap-in carpeting, move tequila to a locked location, and proceed with boating in the observers seat.

You always have to keep the Tequila locked up.....

While we're on tequila ... many years back a buddy and i are jet skiing on a pair of old Kawi 440's on Castaic Lake in SoCal and a jet boat cuts across in front of us. They are all drunk, waving bottles and such! It got real ugly as we couldn't react fast enough and slammed into the wakes throwing us both. I slammed my face into the yoke, driving my teeth through just below the lower lip, blood everywhere and damned near knocked me out! Gotem' to shore and all the wimmens are screaming 'cause i looked like hell and the bleeding wouldn't stop. So i grab a bottle of Cuervo, take a big gulp and blow it out the hole creating a nice spray and effectivly cauterizing the hole! Tequila does have some medicinal purposes as well! Then i drank it
