Where are the Las Vegas area members??

We're finally getting out of Comnifornia, and moving to almost free America Our new place is in North Vegas. We should be moving in around Easter. I know there's a couple Vegas members on here. Hope to get together with any and all before summer gets here and then get out on Mead

Why did they close Mead? Is it because its all a park and ramps need some degree of attending? Our lakes/ramps are based on an agreement between the state and power co that runs the dams. All public ramps are open 24/7 and do not require any official attendant, and are come and go as please. So all open at this time.

With that said, the only time we ever stopped at a park entrance was when heading into the ramp in the Boulder area and Dingle needed to re-up his yearly, so we stopped at the shack and paid it.

most of the ramps here are federally run or by city, county, or state government so they closed quick. I believe Mead is federally run, I could be way off, but if so that would be my guess to closure

This is a fact and applies to all our non-private ramps, but really, the overseeing body, does not explain the closure. Like I said, in the 13+ years going to lake mead, I can only recall 1 maned park check point. Allt he other marines/ramps, there was no park official station to go through. This is why im curious why they closed them.

I am guessing- and all speculation at this point- that they are afraid of all the stupida$$ kids that are still holding tie ups and mead is simply too big to police.

initially they closed the pay stations that you have to go thru to get anywhere on mead other than temple bar(that one is not open much anymore but the other ones in proximity to mead are always staffed during the day and weekends) and they were leaving the roads/ramps open. then they shut the roads completely and only open to walkers/cyclists. if you wanted your boat off the water in the marinas the 25th was the last day to access the ramps and roads.
the guys with the trailers in the villages pitched a major fit and last word was you can now drive in to the trailer villages but all other services are closed and launch ramps are shut down.

interestingly when I checked yesterday powell still had ramps open.

and yes, that d&p is one shady mofo....

I'm good with the ramps closed at the moment less distraction waaaay too much to move and settle. And then there's that whole get a job part. But then I'm ready for the water

the other half has a job waiting as soon as they reopen and I'll start OTR driving as soon as the school opens again so we should both be good.

good thing you guys have jobs mtn. this las vegas economy is going to be a mess for the rest of this year and probably into next. I see troubles ahead for our housing market although it could help the severe imbalance of listings vs buyers that existed a month ago and I suspect as the tourism industry starts to wind back up again this will be an opportunity for the casinos to eliminate the dead weight jobs so many might not be coming back to work in the short term.

driving is not a bad gig to be in. we struggle to find route drivers. everyone local that doesn't want to drive otr wants to get on with republic services. we lose a few a year to them.

made it in last Sunday night after a 13 hour drive with 2 truck breakdowns, 1 in Baker and the second 5 miles from the new house. living in a mess of boxes but we're here. I still have to work in SoCal 3 days a week until new work freeze is over. Lake Mead is just teasing me sitting there with no one on it

holla when you start to go out and love to meet up for a proper intro. iirc I think you were on the other side of the atx from us at the reunion for the 15 minutes we were out there.
I walk past the boat this morning on a beautiful spring day. perfect weather, little wind. sun shining. and no ramp open sucks!!!
