Any one have any recommendations for a good dry suit. Not looking to spend $1000s of dollars. Live in New England and looking to extend my season. Thank you.
if you're an xl or 2xl check out swimoutlet.com. they are $70 cheaper than wakemakers.
not sure if it's fixed yet but a lot of noise over on the moomba forums on wm not shipping product and backorders over the last couple of months.
might want to check out your local shop and see if they can order for similar price to online. I've bought a few surfboards from boatshops that matched online pricing.
I run the O’Neil fluid in the winter up here in Canada and it gets the job done. Does leak a little bit around the neck but it’s nice not having super baggy legs. If I were to do it again I would just get a super thick O’Neil techno butter chest zip wetsuit tho.
Years ago I had the neck seal replaced with neoprene. You really need to be careful with drysuits. Make sure you constantly lube the rubber seals otherwise they will dry out and get brittle. I'd also advise against sharing with other people.
I share my drysuit. We don't pee in it. Maybe I don't care because I am the largest person. The ONeill boost is plenty snug at the wrists and ankles that even my wife who is 100 pounds less than me gets a good seal. The neck is a little on the loose side for them, but it works well enough that I haven't considered buying a second smaller one.
I think it depends on which activity you do. I have the boost and love it for almost anything. When I wear this one out (it is 13 years old and I have replaced the seals twice), I will likely get the O'Neill Assault hybrid. But that is because I would like neoprene for sitting on my but on the Air Chair.
Some of the more expensive drysuits also provide better butt traction than the Boost does, but that is not an issue for most. The boost is awesome because on pretty cold days, you can layer underneath and stay warm, and on warmer days, a T-shirt underneath is all I wear.
Did you do this or have it done. Oneill will not do them any longer unless under warranty.
I found that out this winter. Not sure if it is COVID, or if they just decided it wasn't worth it. I replaced the arm seals this winter on my own. It looks crappy compared to a factory job, it is just really difficult not to put more glue on there. 'Thin to win' was what they said in the instructional video, and I just couldn't stop, haha.
Most importantly, the seals still keep me dry, so I guess that means it is a really good job.
I have ordered some seals from NRS but they are backed order until mid April.
I think these are the same as I got. I think they are not quite as good of quality as the original, but if they get me through this spring and then fall, I will be happy enough with them.
