Steering wheel pulls hard to the right

We had the steering cable replaced last summer and the boat seemed to steer straight but by end of summer it was pulling again. I would have to keep the wheel almost turned at a 180 degree angle to keep it going straight.

We took the boat to a couple of shallower water lakes and I'm wondering if we could have damaged the steering cable somehow?? If that's even what's causing the issue. Also has a delayed reaction when I turn the wheel, so sometimes it would cut very hard.

I'm use to a inboard/outboard ski boat and the steering is totally different on this wake board boat, wondering if that's normal?

I was surprise to see this cable replacement last year because technicians used their strategies magnificently on this occasion. I have finished a brill assignment before writing an essay on cable. I appreciated them a lot for their lovely service and hard work.

My he$#!!, it is Skynet in here taking over.

The boat should only require a very gentle pressure on the steering wheel to keep it going straight. Please clarify if you mean it pulls hard to one side.

I think what you mean is that the steering wheel is not straight when you drive straight. That is pretty common if they forgot to put the steering wheel straight when they installed the new cable. Even new boats are often not 100% straight on. You could reinstall the cable if it bugs you a lot, but then again, it might bug you more when you discover that now instead of 180 degrees off, you are 15 degrees off.
      Be excellent to one another.

Yah. Mine is definitely not straight either and it’s like a quarter turn off. I could probably take the steering wheel off and make it straight. But I’m lazy.

You don't take the wheel off. Remove the rack off the back side of the holm/steering column(4 bolts with 7/16" heads. Then when its off center your rudder and center your wheel. Then just bolt the rack back up. If you have to actively supply steering input to stay straight then rudder tuning is the next step

That’s deep and very profound. Thank you.

If your boat is truly pulling, ie. You let go of the wheel and your boat automatically starts turning right, perhaps you have a surf tab that is intermittently not fully retracting...

When I put my rudder straight and hooked up the steering wheel, the wheel would not be straight when the boat was going straight. I think the prop pushes the boat to the left for me.

It seems like the more throttle, the more I have to cheat the wheel to the right. The boat isn’t pulling… if I let go of the wheel it doesn’t spin.. and my cable is butter smooth. I think it just has to do with the prop rotation sending the boat to the left based on power it’s throwing.

to correct it, I just marked where the steering wheel was at “straight” regardless of the rutter, and then unbolted the steering cable shaft, centered the wheel, and then reattached it.
