New Tige owner here! Few questions about TAPS 3 troubleshooting and parts.

    Hey all,

Few questions here about the taps 3 system and tower docking lights.

I just bought a 2016 RZX3 and on the very first run the left tab to surf goofy wasn't engaging and it wasn't creating a wave. This was a little disheartening to have something wrong on the very first day on my new boat. Tried knocking on them and reset the batteries but those small things didn't work lol. Any trouble shooting ideas? Also does anyone know what bulbs go into the tower front facing docking lights? Would like to change those to white LEDs to match everything else in the boat. Would love a response here!!

Welcome to TigeOwners and congrats on the new boat!

You may have to pull the light housing to see exactly which bulb it uses. I cannot recall at this moment.

I would guess that you have a bad ram. You can go into the dealer settings menu and run the surf demo.

Thanks a lot koolaid! Really helpful response. Ill give it a shot. Would love to hear more about RZX experiences and fixes from you guys! And when in demo mode, the boat doesn't have to be in the water correct?

That is correct. It can be out of the water. Use it to validate the actuator strokes the full length (2.25"-2.5") when set on 1. Then set to < or > and be sure the actuator retracts all the way. You can see the weld line on the actuator. It should be flush with the bottom of the actuator.
        Oh Yeah!

Congrats on the new boat! Let’s see some pics.
Couldn’t have said it any better than koolaid did. You are probably in need of new actuators.

Here are the specs on the lights you need, they will be significantly brighter and the white matches better.

Preciate it bsreid! Ended up buying LEDs that are 1mm bigger on each side than the ones you sent... hopefully it isn't that snug of a fit! Here are some pics of the new beast. Love it a lot so far. Kind of bummed on the actuator problem though, will this be an ongoing thing? Should i stock up?

Yeah the extra 1mm shouldn't be too much of a problem, they're tight but not that bad. For the actuators I have only had to replace mine once and that was 200hrs ago. If you are still on warranty you should be good.
Jealous of your warm weather if you are out testing these things right now, took a surf vacation down to Az for New Years and all ready had enough of the snow since being back. Gorgeous boat by the way, one of my riding buddies just bought one the same colours. All you need now is some lead

65 and sunny here in the Texas hill country. Still need wet suits, the water isn’t fun but still great to take a group out and go tool around and wear out the wetsounds. Glad to hear about the actuator, I wasn’t looking forward to $150-200 every few months. Super pumped about joining this group, thank y’all for the super informative and timely replies!!

I would suggest keeping an extra actuator. Don't want to lose a weekend because of one.

Will do. Ill start stocking up. Would be nice if there was a better/beefier actuator that didn't crap out ever. Definitely would bite the bullet and replace both to have peace of mind.

                        Dang, pretty close to mine..

The actuators are a roll of the dice. Some guys have replaced them like 3 times, and others haven’t. I’d say the average is one replacement every few years. Supposedly they’re better now than they were for a while. I’m somewhere near 250 hours, and I’ve done one set.

The guys that have responded are a couple of the most helpful on this board, so you’re in good hands! I’ve been through a bunch with mine, so I’m pretty up to speed on this particular boat.

I’ll probably switch my surf system to GSA plates, which Bsreid has already done. It’s supposed to be a huge difference in performance, and easier on the actuators.

                        Have fun with it bro!

Sweet rig. Replacing every few hundred hours doesn't bother me since its cheap and easy. It is just all boaters nightmare to bring a big group out and have something fail. Have had to get towed in the past on my previous boat with 8 girls on board.... quite embarrassing.

It is a nightmare, and I’ve had more issues than most, on here, but have yet to be dead on the water!! Fingers crossed! We wakeboard and surf, so having surf issues just forces anyone that wants to ride, to wakeboard. Worst case, whiteclaws, and wet sounds will get you back to the ramp!

Sounds like my kind of time. Selling my wakeboard, I’m so sick of getting my bell rung [emoji23]
