Z3 early production hull

Long time reader first time poster.
1993 2000slm owner for 25 yrs.
Looking to buy 2012 Z3.
Read in a forum “How to spot early production Z3” that those hulls were different (in a bad way) than the rest. Now I can’t find the forum.
Does everyone know if the early production Z3 hulls were different than the rest?

The 2000slm has been great for a quarter of a century. Would not trade it for the world!

I believe it was just the prototype boats and the wake 9 one that was different but I may be wrong. A close friend of mine has a 2012 and it’s a great boat, amazing surf wave.

Funny story; Myself and a few others like talltigeguy, got to drive wake-9's Z3 before he did. It was a surf flop. It was not a prototype, but the actual finished production model. After a half dozen or so left the factory, they realized it didnt surf worth a chit, and re-worked the hull.

So yes, there were a handful of early Z3's that had a different hull (minor though but significant in terms of performance) then the rest of the 2012 Z3 hulls.

I also read that if the chines in the back are filled in the boat has a great surf wake.

iirc tige did take care of a few of the early boats that had the different hull by modifying them BUT if it was my coin I'd search out a boat that never went through that repair.
when we were shopping I didn't contact any 2012 z3 owners on onlyinboards not wanting to mess with that whole issue.

Honestly, I think Tige would tell you if you send them the Hull ID. They were super open with me when I bought my used boat about issues.

From what I can tell from photos, there was 13 made. So if your hull ID is TIX0001A to TIX0013A it could have been affected.

Ended up buying a 2013 Z1.
Takes less weight and fuel to get decent wake and it fits in the garage. Thanks
