Tell Us About Your Crazy Boat Show Deals

With the boat show season approaching, I though it would be great to share some stories. What is the craziest deal you've seen offered at a boat show? How aggressive have you seen dealers in their pricing, rebates, freebies, etc. as they compete with each other to win your business and get you to buy their brand of boat?

How much have you saved by buying at the boat show?

    Thanks.

No, I went the other way.

I don't really know how well you can do at Spring Boat shows - never tried. I bought mine last Fall (November). A loaded '05 closeout (new) - dealer put on Rider Edition Graphics, 3-vent heater and windblock, at cost. Sold for 67% of original sticker. Yeah, I'm in.

Definitely worth scouring the internet for closeouts if you don't mind rollin' in an '06 versus an '07...!

        Boat Show

The boat show pricing here in AZ is usually a little better than the normal pricing. It's because of the boat show that I bought my Tige. Was looking at the MCs and Malibus but because of kevin, i was impressed with tige and the rest is history.

Sounds like a good deal! I noticed you didn't get a trailer. Did you already have one that fit the boat? Also, are there any other examples of people getting deals at the boat show?

                  Thanks.

i know some dealers don't sell the trailers with the boats, and others do. What gives? Mine came with it, but then they subracted like 1200 dollars from the price and called that the trailer fee, same difference to me. Just wondering.

Mine was more of a post boat show deal because it was the boat the dealer ordered with just about everything to try to sell at a show. Lucky for me he didn't. Down side was that it had about 40 hours on it when we got it. It is a 2005 22v, with the premium factory installed stereo(sub, 3 sets of components, the bigger clarion amp, remotes at helm and on transom), bow filler, tige tower with racks, bimini, MP 340 hp, Synchrotech, stainless package, cover, sea strainer, perko inline flush system, factory ballast, dual batteries, and a Dorsey trailer for 46k. I think one of the different thing about the boat is maybe the coloring, dark blue bottom, pacific blue transom and side swoops, crystal white upper hull, and platinum white deck, I think the four different colors might have detracted from people jumping at it at shows. It took a little while to grow on me, but I like it now. Since purchasing in June we immediately added tower speakers and another amp, perfect pass, freshwater shower with 20 gallon tank (boat is used mostly in saltwater), and a new sub with a third amplifier. If anyone ever has any perfectpass install questions I would be glad to provide my experience. It was reall much easier than I thought it would be.

Well the thinking behind it was like this. My summer house is on the lake so i have a hoist and they would be not point in getting one becuase i'm on the lake. I got five years free storage so i don't need a trailer to store it, even know it would be fun to go some where with it, i don't want to mess with it that badly. So it was better for me to go with out the trailer and also cut ALOT off the bottom line.

I think someone else was asking how i got the boat with out the trailer. It is an option to not get the trailer, so thats how i didn't get it.

it sounds like a pain in the *** how do you get it to the shop.call the dealer and tell them by the way my boat needs serviced could you bring a trailer i dont know about that.

I would be lost if my boat did not have a trailer. It would be like having a car without gas. You can't get from point A to point B. But then I do not live on a lake. I just have 5 lakes 15 minutes from my front door. The trailer to me is a must.

i agree, even if I lived on a lake, I would think a I would want a trailer, but hey, each to his own!
