tower rattle

2018 R23, manual tower (M2). past weekend tower started to make a rattling noise when going over light chop. Isolated to tower base on starboard side. dropped the tower to look, bolts are all tight. there is some sort of what appears to be a brass spacer or bushing, not sure if that's it, but as i said everything seems tight.

anyone have any experience with this? resolution?

Yes. I have same issue. Sounds like metal to metal slapping together very hard. I also isolated to the starboard base. The tower slides side to side in the base. No known solution. Dealer checked it and said tower is good. It sounds like absolute crap!!!! Embarrassing!

I haven’t folded it down yet to look. I was spending extra boat time messing with leaking ballast. I’ll take a look when I winterize it

My power tower does the same thing, in the same place. Actually, it did it for a while and then stopped but has started doing it again the last month. I thought the first time it happened was because the tower was not fully seated in the upright position so I lowered it a bit and then raised it again. No change. I have recently been putting the tower down while traveling. About the same time the noise came back the second time. I wonder if this is the cause. Do you guys tow with the tower down or do you leave it up?

Mine is not the E2, so it is not powered. You can only tow with the powered towered down. So no, always tow my boat with tower up.

I meant you cannot tow with the unpowered tower down. Powered tower can be towed up or down. Sorry for the confusion.

Any thoughts about the rattle?

All good home slice. We are working on a pin setup for you all for the M2 to allow it to be towed tower down. Ill update you all when its done. I believe the coverall cover will also work with this once finished.

Not the most elegant solution, but if the issue is is sliding back and forth is the mounting base just make a piece of rubber that will shove into that gap and hold it in place.

Assuming all shims/bushings/washers or whatever are installed correctly (my dealer said it is) and are not damaged, I am pondering adding a rubber material to prevent the movement.

Hopefully someone associated with Tige can provide some insight.

It will need to be something like delrin. Rubber or something like that is too soft. You want something that will not compress and will not squeak.
