Why do you guys think the glass inline fuel filters all say "not recommended for inboard engines"? I need an inline filter, and was looking at the cheap ones, but I can't dig up any info on why they are not recommended. If you do have an inline, pre-main filter, what are you using?

Outboards suck, inboards blow Don't know for sure, but they may not be rated for pressure.

Does your boat not have a fuel/water filter, or are you just looking for some backup filtration?

What happens if the glass cracks and breaks? In a car the gas will spill on the ground, on a boat it will be in a bilge.

I would just use a inline fuel filter for an auto, such as the fram inline kit. Effective & inexpensive to replace once a year. High performance auto shops have some real nice looking two piece aluminum units that have a replacable pourous brass element that works well also.

If cold water hits the glass they tend to break and the glass filters are restrictive in there flow.

Metal in-line one.

I use a metal inline one and it works just fine.
