it's hard to drive 55, I agree, but I figure I'll do 60 while towing, and use my other "TOY" for the faster speeds. It's one of the fastest on the market!! I love my Z!

I tow mine with the tower up. I would be more worried about the tower bouncing up and down and getting scuffed than I am about 1 mpg.

Ahhh, the benefits of having a diesel . I get pretty much the same milage towing the boat as I do empty. 18 vice 20mpg. Course diesel is higher per gallon (at the moment). I always tow with the tower up as it bounces around when I have it collapsed. Mines black powdercoated and scotchbrite works on it too.

i get a bit better mpg if I'm empty, also depends how fast I go. Over 70, it doesn't matter if I'm empty or full, all the same

What did we do before we had the computerized chip in our auto's to determine miles per gallon? I always pull with tower up behind my Duramax. Not enough loss in MPG to even think about taking it down all the time. Plus, it lays on the seats---who's to say they won't get damaged. At least on my 22V the tower layed on the seat.

The problem with mine is I mounted my Monster Tower where if I lay it down it hits the back of my engine cover. It put a hole in the vinyl. So I just took the tower completely off during the winter. I guess now I have an excuse to get that seat fabricated on the back of the cover.

I could care less about mileage personally, it's going to be crappy no matter what and your going to drive to your destination regardless so why worry about something you can't control?

I just wish my boat would get good gas milage. It's not too bad when I'm just cruising but you start pulling a tube.

My wife always is bugged by how much gas cost to have fun. I always say if we have already invested the money in the toys the gas is the cheap part. Most days it costs more for food than gas with the teenagers at my house. Back to the thread I have a buddy that built a brace he tows half up or down which ever way you want to look at it. I always thought that was weird. I always tow with tower up, my tower rests on itself and I would worry about powder coat chipping or peeling.

My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.
