Ahhh, the benefits of having a diesel . I get pretty much the same milage towing the boat as I do empty. 18 vice 20mpg. Course diesel is higher per gallon (at the moment). I always tow with the tower up as it bounces around when I have it collapsed. Mines black powdercoated and scotchbrite works on it too.

What did we do before we had the computerized chip in our auto's to determine miles per gallon? I always pull with tower up behind my Duramax. Not enough loss in MPG to even think about taking it down all the time. Plus, it lays on the seats---who's to say they won't get damaged. At least on my 22V the tower layed on the seat.

My wife always is bugged by how much gas cost to have fun. I always say if we have already invested the money in the toys the gas is the cheap part. Most days it costs more for food than gas with the teenagers at my house. Back to the thread I have a buddy that built a brace he tows half up or down which ever way you want to look at it. I always thought that was weird. I always tow with tower up, my tower rests on itself and I would worry about powder coat chipping or peeling.Last edited by Original Wing Nut; 12-30-2006, 11:14 PM.My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.
