There are a couple of cool things going on there, but I’d prefer people that don’t have to confidence to trailer just not hook one up. Giving some of these idiots extra confidence may be a bad thing. I see people driving down the road that shouldn’t have a drivers license, let alone be allowed to hook any old trailer up to their vehicle. I’m not one for any government regulation, but maybe a trailering license should be required, or something along those lines.
I am always amazed at the number of guys rolling into buildings I work in that are dropping off shipments driving a sleeper cab with a 53ft trailer. they struggle and can't back it to a dock. several times we have had the driver unhook, our guys use the yardhorse and put it in, then they hook up again.
these guys passed a "professional" truck driving school to get a class A.
there will be those that will get a trailer license and still not be able to back it up....
heck, go to our local launch ramp and half the dudes back trailers in take longer than my GF that can do it first pass on a crowded launch. she sure gets some looks from both the guys that can't back and the wives/gf's holding the boat at the dock waiting and she learned it with our old ford f150 with no electronic nannies...

CA already does kind of. You are supposed to have a non commercial class A endorsement for some of your bigger campers and 5th wheels. Lot of good thats doing

I rarely agree with anything Cal does, but just glancing at that, looks pretty similar to Nevada.. We can tow up to 10k, 26,000 total, or 70’ total length, and then you need a Class A or B.. California also thinks it’s smart to have a portion of their traffic traveling 55mph, and the rest going 65-70mph, for whatever reason..
or 85-90 between las vegas and los angeles. with truck traffic restricted to 55. was the biggest $hitshow I have every driven on...
Good ole California!! Always using their brains!! I-5 is the same way.. a bunch of it is 2 lanes, and trucks cutting people off trying to pass each other with auto traffic flowing at a completely different rate.. it’s so damn sketchy!!
Definitely some good stuff there but i find it hard to even use my back up camera and front and rear sensors on my 2015 DMax so im not sure what i would do with all the other stuff. Maybe Elon can come up with something that can hook hook drive and back all on its own, then all have to do SURF !!!!

What about I-80 between Reno and Auburn? Really any California roadway. Still though, I-80 from Reno to Fernley is 70mph for all vehicles and it ends up in the same turmoil.
There are some cool things in that new GM system though. I’ve been towing trailers for 30+yrs now and I wouldn’t mind a back up camera or two.
I just bought a 2019 sierra half ton. I am going from a three-quarter ton Dodge with a Cummins. It is a smooth ride and very luxurious. Other than that I do not like it for towing my z3 at all. Truck just feels squirrelly. The back up camera is nice for hooking up to a hitch by myself, it has the eight speed transmission so I have no problem putting the pedal down and keeping up on a hill. On our first trip to the lake of the Ozarks. Which is about a 2 hour drive each way we got 9 miles a gallon. Other than that I do not see much of a need for some of the other options.
My ram 1500 felt a bit squirrely too until I got axle to frame airbags. Huge improvement. The next upgrade will probably be the Falcon towing shocks. You should consider these items.
