Wakeboard Weighting for Inboards: 60/40 or 100/0?

Most of us have read the rule of thumb for wakeboard weighting of 60 front/40 rear. While good to have a starting point, this was presented by pros running v-drives. With the static weight being much farther forward in an inboard, do you think this distribution holds true for direct-drives? I've been putting 100% of my extra weight in the rear lockers (granted, not much - only 250lbs of free weight last season - but it does fatten up the wake). I also Force anyone over 200 lbs to sit aft of the engine.

I'm installing a bag system in the rear lockers right now and between water and free weights, will have roughly 350lbs in theach locker (and still room for some gear). I'm thinking that this will get me closer a v-drive static weight distribution (while still enjoying my SWEET 22i seating config ;-), and am not planning to plumb for a ballast bag up front (I could always shift some free weights up there if need be, but I don't think it's likely). Thoughts?

Also curious to what weight distribution other I's (and V's) are running...

    Thanks in advance, T*

I think you're going to find that direct drives run 50/50 and V-Drives run 60/40 (The main difference being the position of the engine in the boat).

If you don't have enough weight up front and too much in the back, you'll find that your wake will begin to wash out at wakeboard speeds. TAPS can compensate for some of this, but after enough weight, it won't make a difference. Remember, it's total weight in the boat, so you have to account for people and other ballast.

If you're wakesurfing, then I'd recommend reading this thread.

I agree totally with what Dog said.

When I weight my boat, the best results happen right around the 60/40 mark.

I prefer more weight in the back of the boat as opposed to the front. My wake is still clean even at wakeboarding speeds.

I have mine (22i) set up at 60/40 and it works great. However I have not tried the 50/50. I did read somewhere that 60/40 was better for d-drives.
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

I run my sacks next to my motor 350 on each side and a 600 in the front walkway on a 20i. Seems to do really well and then place riders accordingly thruought the boat.

as far as bags I have a 600 in back, and two 250's up front as well as 2 50 lb weights on each side, so grand total of 1300 total weight. I then put my heaviest friends in the back, and put some others up front to get it to plane. the wake is typically huge, and it's extremely clean. Can be picky at times, but I just move the people around to compensate.

Thanks All for the input. Still seems to me that inboards should over-compensate any extra weight to the back of the boat to make up for the motor being in the middle to get to more of a v-drive distribution... But most of you have had yours Tige's longer than I, and have likely done alot of experimentation w/weighting.

I still think that I'll plumb for my Fun-Bags in the rear lockers only, and then tweak things by moving peeps and free weight forward as needed.

                Regards, T*

best thing to do is just experiment. I mean people have thier weight set up for how they like to board. Mine might be different then yours.
